Re: phpBB Falling Behind?

Have you actually looked around at the development process here and how it has completely changed in the past year or two? Or how they moved code development to github to better collaborate with the users? Or how the RFC process was opened up to anyone that cares? We're doing the same things since ...

Re: phpBB Falling Behind?

Obviously you don't get it either. We don't need help with the project management side. You can argue all you want about how our setup is wrong, how you don't like the RFC process, how you don't like the responses from developers but the bottom line is that the problem is and has ALWAYS been that f...

Re: phpBB Falling Behind?

They're not ready yet. Unfortunately, coding takes time, reviewing code takes time, testing code takes time, fixing bugs in that code and repeating those three tasks takes time, merging code takes (less, but still some) time. All of the developers have work or school (or both; I'm in school full ti...

Re: phpBB Falling Behind?

They're volunteers, and therefore we can hardly expect them to spend their time on stuff that doesn't interest them :D If you feel strongly about an issue, write a patch for it yourself – that's what I did with AJAX. Couldn't disagree more. Everyone is a volunteer, but the core product is controlle...

Re: phpBB Falling Behind?

I have to agree with Eric on his sentiments in the opening post. I won't rehash the arguments, but honestly I think it comes down to bureaucracy. Development of the core phpBB project has always been contentious, from the psoTFX days during the phpBB2 development to the current team. Instead of look...

Re: Discuss: Blog post about phpBB 3.0.6 plans

Been a while since I posted here.. I'd like to say I'm pleasantly surprised to see that the Quick Reply will finally be added; it's about time. I've been around for a long time (since 1.x days) and I've seen justification left right and center not to include it. But it was something that was vastly ...

Re: [2.0.6] Prune User Posts

I no longer do phpBB Mod development, but I'm sure someone has implemented similar functionality in the latest version of phpBB.

Re: Bandwidth estimates?

How many concurrent users? It's hard to average bandwidth, because it depends on the viewing pattern of your users. If you have heavy participation, bandwidth would be much higher. But to put a number, a forum I manage that has roughly 200~300 concurrent users at anytime uses about ~150 GB per month...

Re: [2.0.11] Advanced User Search

The mod only searches users, you'd more need a post search to do that.

Re: topic_views

If you remove the Views from the php script, you will still have the blank column in your viewforum page... If you have to remove that blank column from the viewtopic_body.tpl, it does not matter if you remove it from the php script. Personally, I would simply remove it from the template, and leave...

Re: Problem using append_sid() and header('location...')

Use

Code: Select all

    <?php

      header('Location: ' . append_sid('http://mydomain.com/index.php?event_id=123456', true));

    ?>
The second parameter in append_sid() lets it output & instead of the html safe &
