Re: Updating to php7

you have a different error.
make sure that the files are all there, upload a fresh copy of the folder named phpbb inside your forum directory. make sure it is from the phpbb version you are currently using.

also, make sure you are not using php 7.3 as it is not compatible with phpBB3

Re: Sub-Forum Banner

no bother. however, you have not done it correctly because I still see the same code mistakes in your html file. either you have not changed the right file or you have not uploaded the right file or you have uploaded it to the wrong place or you have not purged the cache. you can see if you can acce...

Re: Sub-Forum Banner

I have a feeling that the mistakes in your code are what is causing the 500 error. if you can get into the admin panel, purge the cache from there. If not, then use your ftp and access your board and delete everything from the cache folder except for the index and htaccess files. then hard refresh y...

Re: Sub-Forum Banner

it is in certain places but in this case it must be there for the IF statements but not for the actual banner code. currently you have this: <!--IF FORUM_ID == 24 -- you are missing the space needed after the -- and you are missing the closing > it should be this; <!-- IF FORUM_ID == 24 --> like I s...

Re: Sub-Forum Banner

yes, you would replace all of this <-- insert banner code here --> with the actual link to the banner image on your server. however , do not remove any of the other <-- or --> in the code. those always have to have arrow no space dash dash one space for the front, and one space dash dash nospace rig...

Re: Trying to copy a PHPBB from one hosting company to another

Re: External pages logging users out

you should at least update your 3.0.2 to 3.0.14 if your external page is the only one not working with php 5.6 then I believe there is a topic about how to do it using 5.6 somewhere here in the archived 3.0 section. if you are not willing to upgrade to the current version of phpbb then your options ...

also, in the admin panel under server settings where you see the "script path" there is no need to put anything in those blanks unless you have "Force server URL settings:" set to yes. if you have it set to "no" then none of those settings are in effect. usually there is no reason to set it to yes a...

Re: Show forum name instead of forum id

his link is not to a extension, it is to a discussion about why it is not needed to change the urls. as far as being pretty, that is very subjective. it may look pretty to you but your users won't care one way or the other. if you find the extension ( there may not be a current one because the exten...

Re: Show forum name instead of forum id

and if your goal is better search engine rankings, don't bother. at this point in your board's life it will actually reduce your search engine placement for a while until the search engines come around and reindex your site. as far as SEO is concerned it will be like starting over from scratch. if y...

Re: Trying to copy a PHPBB from one hosting company to another

most likely your sql backup file does not contain the command to drop the tables and recreate them.

therefore, before you try to import that database backup you need to drop the existing one first. then run the bigdump script to import it again.
