Re: Show Sub-forums in Categories

that is because you can't have a subforum in a category. categories have forums, then forums can have subforums.
also, a category does not even show up unless it first has a forum inside it.

Re: Some very noob questions

the operating system has nothing to do with it really. you can install mysql and php etc. etc. on just about any operating system, even windows. if you are goint to get hosting that you pay for, get a linux hosting package as opposed to windows hosting. whatever os package the server is running on i...

Re: Email error » EMAIL/SMTP (want to use Email delivery service)

none of that has anything to do with phpbb. phpbb provides two different ways to use email. both of those ways depend on your host's server setup . contact your host. most likely the problem is going to be that your host does not allow you to relay email through there smtp servers etc. what that mea...

Re: hosting question

I would forget the cloud stuff. just find a decent hosting plan. most basic hosting offers plenty of resources for most phpbb installations. https://webhostingtalk.com is a good place to look. unless you have a very large and very busy board ( as in thousands of members and thousands of posts a day,...

Re: image extensions

I have used postimage a little. it works fine. you may be overthinking this. just download and install one of the extensions, test it out. if you like it, keep it. if not, disable it and delete it and try another. there is no way to know if any of them will be there tomorrow so that is really not so...

Re: image extensions

the problem with using any of the free image hosting sites is that you never know when they are just going to disappear etc.

probably the best thing to do is simply use the built in attachment system and host those images yourself.

Re: Set up Forums / Groups Short List ?

It would help to read the documentation found in the docs folder and here in the menu above. remember, everyone is a member of the registered user group. the anonymous user is in the guest group. that users is the only member of the guest group and is a member of no other groups. if you create custo...

Re: SEO friendly urls and meta tags for seo

and as far as creating pages goes, this is a bulletin board script, not a cms.
however, there is an offcial extension called pages that will allow you to do this.
check in the extensions database for it.

Re: Moving a phpbb forum within same domain/host

actually, the proper way to do what you said is this: if you want your wp site to show here: https://mydomain.com/: move all the wp files/folders from the "newsite" directory to the root directory of "mydomain.com" then delete the empty folder "newsite". you many need to delete all the old wp files/...

Re: BBCode: Vimeo Playlist

using the embed extension, I couldn't make it work for the vimeo playlist either. at least not with the playlist embed code the OP provided.
apparently you can't post playlist urls for vimeo or youtube using the embed code given by them.

Re: Getting Started

yes, you can install phpbb or any other type of dynamic website on godaddy servers. I don't recommend it because godaddy is an awful hosting company in my opinion. however, they do have the requirements needed to install and run phpbb. just download it from here and follow the installation instructi...
