Re: Update from old version 3.0.11

sometimes that works, but quite often it does not. I suggest you upgrade from 3.0.11 to 3.1.12 first. get the files here: https://download.phpbb.com/pub/release/3.1/3.1.12/phpBB-3.1.12.zip instructions here: https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3.1/ug/upgradeguide/upgrade3/ once you have that worki...

Re: What Records Can I Delete With phpMyAdmin?

and once you get the board back working, make complete backups of the files and the database and go get a decent host. most normal hosts don't restrict your database space or the number of databases you can have. normally the only restriction to database size is whatever the total size allocation fo...

Re: Update gone wrong? - "The installer detected a timeout"

as long as you did step 1 there is nothing fatal. that means if you made backups of the database/files then there is nothing you can do that you can not recover from in a short time . anyway, now we are getting a mysql error saying that the config table does not exist. It is hard to say how to help ...

Re: Update from old version 3.0.11

How can I update board from old version of 3.0.11 without affecting the style ? Every download package I look to download does not list 3.0.11 as a from version I suppose since it is old. Can I get the previous updates to get it up to date ? if you give us a link to your current board we can give y...

Re: Importing from another site

just because it is active does not mean you have access to the files and the database. can you download a database backup ? I doubt it, at least not for free. can you use ftp to connect to your account and download the files? I doubt it with the free boards. if you want control of your own phpbb boa...

Re: Update gone wrong? - "The installer detected a timeout"

either way, right now there is no board there at all. if you click here: http://www.veneeringforum.com/index.php you will get a 404 file not found message. you also get a not found message for any of the other phpbb files that should be there if you installed it where you said.

Re: IP Ban - to which IP actually?

it doesn't matter which IP you ban because chances are when they come back they will have a different IP anyway. banning via IP is a waste of time. many, if not most people, get a new IP address everytime they log into their ISP and/or everytime they reboot their router etc. etc. contrary to popular...

Re: Getting a 404 error for viewtopic.php on all topics but file exists.

this is something your host needs to fix. they have it set way too strict. you really have no control over this other than to possibly turn it off from your cpanel. I have never seen one set this strict that it will not allow normal php files to be executed. any way, contact your host support, ask f...

Re: Three features you would like to see in 3.3.

how are you even sure that was the actual hacker? why would you believe anything a hacker says? why would someone that hacked phpbb.com admit it in the open and leave themselves open to prosecution? I think I would believe the staff at phpbb quicker than some anonymous person online that claims to h...

Re: Is There A Way to Post an Interstitial?

true but you are supposed to replace all the files immediately after you delete them. the chances of someone trying to access in that short time are slim. if they do they will simply get a 404 or a blank page etc. when they check back in a minute or two, the board will be back and they will get the ...

Re: 3.2.2: no Mod-area button outside forum/topic view?

the mod button will only show up in places where it is relevant. for instance, there would be no reason for a mod button on the search page etc.

it shows up on pages that the mod functions can be used etc.
