Re: show/hide avatar

don't need an extension. go to the admin panel, users and groups tab manage users choose anonymous user from the drop down at the top /right choose avatar check the box under the avatar that says delete image. done. just FYI, the only time a guest would be able to see an avatar is if they can post o...

Re: Upgrade 3.0.14 to 3.2.5: Duplicated but "The requested topic does not exist."

what does #6 mean? you do not update the database in the acp.

you update the database by going to yourdomain.com/yourphpbb/install in your browser.
then you click the update tab, then you click on update and then you click on update database only.

Re: upload extension

not sure what you are talking about. adding this allows administrators to execute any code on the forums if you mean that any admin can make a download then that is not correct. the standard admin permissions is, by default, set to no for downloading and restoring database backups. also, if you can ...

Re: Downloaded 3.2.5

the correct procedure is found in the docs folder in the zip file you downloaded and here: https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3.2/kb/article/updating-32x/ be sure you follow the instructions exactly and in order and it will work just fine. I notice you are missing the forum images. IF you have lo...

Re: New installation with old database?

at number 5; you need to first go to yourdomain.com/yourboard/install before you try to go to the home page. if you get a 500 error there, ask your host for the error logs. a 500 error is often a problem with php. the error log is where it will show you what the problem is. once you get it, copy and...

Re: Can not login with Chrome

could be the chrome browser cache.
lots of people seem to have a problem getting that browser cache cleared properly.

do that and test.

if it works in one browser but not another it has to be a problem with the browser.

I can't find one for 3.2 but that may be because there are very few images used in 3.2. most of it is using font awesome now instead.

Re: Rule of thumb for extension and styles expirations?

You could of course always ask the author. The majority (but not all) active extension writers will keep their extensions current whenever possible. and the same is true of style authors. many of them are updated/upgraded with each version update as well but it make take some time. of course, neith...

Re: Another "relative path" conversion confusion..

there is something strange here. your database is not in a folder of any kind. never has been. you do not access your database via ftp or any file manager etc. so, if the hack is simply putting up a page with that message to replace your index.php page then it really has nothing to do with a databas...

Re: Sub-Forum Banner

good work.

just remember when you start to add the other banners for other forums, be very careful with your edits.
every single space, arrow etc. etc. has to be exact or it does not work.

thanks, I must be tired. I didn't even think to look at the template files for this, got stuck on trying to find what permissions were changed.

Re: Another "relative path" conversion confusion..

not that we have heard of. didn't you say you are hosting your own server? setting up a home server to be secure is very difficult unless you really know what you are doing. that could be where the hacker got in. also, exactly what type of hack are we talking about? were you just getting a lot of sp...

Re: Sub-Forum Banner

ok, here is a version that does work.
replace your acidtech/template/viewforum_body.html file with this one:
https://phpbbusers.com/support/viewforum_body.zip

purge the cache and test. let us know when you have done it.
