Re: How to Stop Email Notifications for Non-active Members

Have you tried manually deleting records from the forums_watch and topics_watch tables for those users?

Re: Understanding Date Format in ACP

Actually, for (2.) there is a Date format attached to the Guest user's profile too. You can adjust that by going into Manage Users in the ACP, and checkmark "Select anonymous user" to edit the Guest profile. Select "Preferences" from the Select Form dropdown in the upper-right.

Re: How to Stop Email Notifications for Non-active Members

updated thread notices, I assume you mean a Topic Reply notice. The way notifications were designed to work is, If the user does not visit the topic, they do not receive any more notifications for it. I am not sure that is true anymore for Forum-new-Topic notifications, but I thought the Reply noti...

note: is this true: running the board on base of the internal PHP-mail () functions is risky and dangerous!?
What is giving you the idea that mail() is "dangerous"?
"Disabled for security reasons" does not imply "dangerous".

you have to set the newly registered user group as default
which is not true.
You just need to set the Post limit to non-zero and set the Newly Regd Users group's forum permission role to "Newly Regd User" for each forum.

Re: How? First moderated post sets user to registered

the default forum permissions for the newly registered user group are all no. however, you have to set the newly registered user group as default for it to work. if you want the members of that group to have their first post moderated then you have to set that to yes and choose the number of posts ...

On the Manage Users page, clicking "Find a Member" only creates a pop-up memberlist page.
Do you have pop-ups blocked?

Re: Forum roles and their permissions

At the bottom of my phpBB3 Permissions , written 10 years ago, I suggest changing those Nos to Nevers on the No Access role: The No Access Forum Role would be more useful with "Never" permissions than its current "No’s". Edit the No Access Forum Role and change "Can see forum" and "Can read forum" f...

Re: Updating user group on users and user_group, do not change user state until cache empty

Whenever anything changes to affect a user's permissions, the phpBB code will clear the user's user_permissions field exactly as you have done in your own code. You are doing it the correct way.

The names of the special groups are in your language's common.php: 'G_ADMINISTRATORS' => 'Administrators', 'G_BOTS' => 'Bots', 'G_GUESTS' => 'Guests', 'G_REGISTERED' => 'Registered users', 'G_REGISTERED_COPPA' => 'Registered COPPA users', 'G_GLOBAL_MODERATORS' => 'Global moderators', 'G_NEWLY_REGIST...

We do not recommend the Automatic package for Upgrades.
In any case, you are supposed to disable all of your extensions before doing any Update or Upgrade.

Each individual post should not be indexed, because a post's URL leads to its topic page, and would result in duplicate content for each post on the page. The concern of this topic is that the canonical link does not contain th...
