Re: Cannot Implement Recaptcha with 3.2.5

Well that's certainly a much more basic error, as though the SQL database simply isn't available or went away. But if it was a problem with the database service or host, it seems like that would be happening to you in many other scenarios, and not just specifically when trying to save a change to th...

Re: ADblock rewrite vulnerability

It's my understanding that all three need to be met for this to work, which is why I asked. Please do feel free to omit the words "one of" from my sentence, and respond to that instead. Although responding even on any one of the individual points would still be productive towards building an answer...

Re: How to add a custom image to the ban message screen

If you wanted to add an image which always shows on this "INFORMATION" message page, then the message_body.html template in the style is what can be modified. This would be if the additional image is "just for aesthetic purposes", and you want the additional image to display 100% of the time, regard...

Re: Search Issue

Also, is the error message accurate? Meaning does it accurately represent what you entered for search, without extra spaces or wrong characters included? Or do you need to separately cut-n-paste the actual words you were searching for, so that we can reference the correct words too?

Re: Missing/lost topics after upgrade to 3.2.5

I exported the DB to local host. Then, I used Bigdump to import to xmapp created MySQL DB. I had installed phpBB 3.2.5 on xmapp I then preformed the db upgrade. All reported no errors. I then created a MySQL DB at the new hosting site and installed phpbb 3.2.5 followed by importing the DB to it. Al...

Re: ADblock rewrite vulnerability

How exactly would it affect a regular phpBB install. For exactly the reasons in the description of the exploit. They demonstrated the exploit on maps.google.com -- without maps.google.com having been a knowing or willing participant -- due to the presence of code and functionality that maps.google....

Re: ADblock rewrite vulnerability

I don't know the definitive answer to this question. Aside from all the other described conditions that need to be met, the key item I'm unsure of phpBB inherently having -- or having as part of a common or popular extension -- is some kind of "open redirect." Maybe the "proxy non-HTTPS content over...

Re: How can I stop spammers from using the Contact Us form?

spammers programs insert only 8 to 14 characters in the message body Certainly hasn't been my experience here either, for what it's worth. You couldn't even fit the URL a spammer wants you to follow within 20 characters; let alone the brief to lengthy description they include trying to entice you t...

Re: Not receiving emails and strange lines of code

On the bright side, the error code disappeared after I disabled SMTP. Email still doesn't work though... That's actually part of the reason I prefer to use phpBB's SMTP client; because when there is an error response from the SMTP server, or some other failure that can be revealed in the communicat...

Re: HTTP ERROR 500 after installing new style

Basic uses template inheritance, so prosilver needs to be enabled for it to work. I understand the meaning, but I don't believe this statement is true from the technical perspective. Indeed, proSilver needs to be installed in order for inheritance to be possible. But proSilver does not need to be a...

Re: Got error 'PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Class phpbb\\db\\driver\\factory contains 1 abstract method and must there

A change of PHP version by your hosting service could definitely be a good explanation of how the issue started "if you didn't change anything yourself." But it's not obvious for me which version of phpBB 3.1.x or 3.2.x could have had the abstract warning on the implementation of driver_interface::s...

Re: Debug info appears after purge cache (and purge cache no longer working)

Hey, at least it's a definitive reason for why the information was showing on your site. Can't say I've encountered that before either, but indeed looks like something that happened in the archiving and de-archiving of that previous backup. Glad you were able to figure that out and share the result.

Re: Debug info appears after purge cache (and purge cache no longer working)

Can't think of a good reason for this to "only show on ACP pages" which isn't somehow related to phpBB (meaning not just phpBB itself, but also the style, or the extensions), since phpBB is the only thing that knows "you're in the ACP." I wanted to think it was some kind of debug option turned on in...
