Re: Error converting from mybb 1.8.20 to phpbb

Oh well. The odds were against this being the only issue that would be encountered, but one can always hope. 😁 However, I think this particular error is suggesting that we simply needed to "start clean" with the re-conversion attempt. The code failing here is phpBB's own attempt to perform the add_b...

Re: Are Emoji Available In 3.2.x?

Indeed, the intention was to confirm that the image files do not exist within the phpBB distribution, such that they could be readily replaced. Edited the message to clarify. Thanks. Cutting and pasting from a different web page definitely works. In addition to mobile devices having had emoji input ...

Re: " ...view more smilies" not opening

Oh, it is important - it prevents a user opening more than one (smilie) window at a time. When no name is given ( _blank instead), every click on more smilies will open a additional window. Thanks. That's the behavior they are asking for; or at least the fall back behavior they wanted to achieve, a...

Re: " ...view more smilies" not opening

The posting_editor.html template (such as /styles/prosilver/template/posting_editor.html) is opening this "more smilies" window using a Javascript helper function from the style's forum_fn.js code, e.g. popup(this.href, 750, 350, '_phpbbsmilies') . This invokes the window.open() API with _phpbbsmili...

Re: Question About Emoticons

I am a fan of the emoji on a Discourse forum I visit. I'm wondering if it would be possible to somehow use Discourse emoji instead of the stock emoticons phpBB utilizes (I'm running v3.2.8). phpBB had changed from Emoji One to Twemoji not too long ago; due to changes in Emoji One's licensing, if I ...

Re: "Remember Me" login on https://www.phpbb.com/community/

For what it's worth, I saw this issue randomly a couple times yesterday. But this morning I've hit it four times in a row. The "Who Is Online" numbers don't seem to suggest presence of some kind of overwhelming load. The symptoms being seen here seem similar to when its been concluded before that th...

Is there a handy list of what all these arcane board and topic icons are actually supposed to mean?
I knew I had seen one posted before, but took way too long to find it: viewtopic.php?p=15009641#p15009641

Re: Error converting from mybb 1.8.20 to phpbb

Hmm. I've never used myBB, but looks like their 1.8.16 update intentionally dropped the users.aim column from the database as obsolete. So now this March 2015 / myBB 1.6.16-era converter cannot work as-is. Or I should say, at minimum this is why it cannot work as-is. It looks straight-forward enough...

IMO this set is a better option Well hopefully Christian doesn't have too much problem convincing the author for permission to use them. 😉 I like those too. Their earlier statement was "As for the icons, those are being replaced with pure CSS equivalents with a complimentary colour palette. This wi...

Re: Provide control of what URL(s) phpBB considers "the local board."

You're right, "as an extension" probably fits this use case very well, because of the "most phpBB users will never need this at all" aspect. I kept thinking in terms of "phpBB is already evaluating and making a decision about each link at runtime", to determine whether phpBB considers the link to be...

Re: [DEV] Prosilver (Dark Edition)

That the darkest portions remain "closer to blue" rather than "black" is subjectively fine in my opinion; not withstanding that "dark mode" in some prominent examples (Windows 10, Apple devices) are for intents and purposes "black". It's a "dark version of prosilver", and not "a black version of pro...

Provide control of what URL(s) phpBB considers "the local board."

I suppose it doesn't happen often enough to give the idea much traction. But every time the https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=556&t=2526446 discussion gets bumped, it keeps making this idea come to mind: In the ACP, provide a multi-value edit field into which one or more partial URL pr...

Re: Create child not from Prosilver

Cool. Thanks for the tip. I thought they would have that as an option. It'll always be =1 for Prosilver. On a new installation, yes. As a "can assume prosilver is always ID 1", no. I've seen boards being updated from phpBB 3.0.x where prosilver wasn't ID 1, for whatever reason existed in that board...

Re: General Error - NO_STYLE_DATA

Still I would like to know though HOW "suddenly the default_style is an invalid style ID", since the issue can lie elsewhere. Installatron finally confirmed today that their script was what set default_style to a hard-coded 1 value. It's been fixed and will be querying the database for the correct ...
