Re: [01/12/06] Spam Words

One person's "very quick hack" is the next person's fourteen hours of work. :D

Take care of your family first. I'll be waiting for when you are ready to move this over to phpbb3.

Thanks so much!

Re: [01/12/06] Spam Words

Hey there Nothingiseasy - fantastic stuff. Honestly, I have been avoiding moving to phpbb3 for the reason that I did not want to take a chance with spam. To me it seems that even a better captcha can be defeated, and a dynamic spam filter like this is going to be needed. My list now stops almost all...

Re: [01/12/06] Spam Words

karmica, This MOD installs easily with something called EasyMod, information about which can be found here: http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?sid=&f=15 First, you will install EasyMOD by following those directions, then you will use EasyMOD to install Spamwords. It will not require any edi...

Heh, this is one bug that really is a feature - I have so many words in my spam list that I would have to scroll down very far before I could edit the settings!

I'll leave it just like it is if that is the only effect. :)

Oh, and kind of a funny observation... I have one topic that is old enough I doubt any real people view it, but enough did when it was posted so that it had, say, 50 views. Time passes, and the spambots come by...increasing the number of views, and thus increasing the attractiveness to spambots in a...

Random URLs

The MOD is still working great - I now have four pages of spam caught every 24 hours, and have only had one false positive. I was wondering if someone could tell me the reasoning behind what appear to be random URLs in spam, e.g. "http://fpvrfhuz.com/wxja/lwbs.html" Since the URL and domain will be ...

Re: Question On Installing This Mod. . .

Hi, This looks like a great Mod, however being a newbie I have a question. For the SQL part at the beginning of the instructions, what do I do? I know for the rest you just modify the documents, etc. . .but the beginning just says SQL and doesn't tell me what to do with it? Does anyone know how to ...

Joe, on the Mass Add function, my version is splitting the words at spaces and periods and ignoring asterisks, so if I enter: *badword.com* The spamwords list now contains: badword com Adding one at a time with the Add New Word button works fine, so it is not urgent, but it could lead to unexpected ...

Is it possible to get this result from setting the configuration, say, to "Allow registered users to post spam" (I don't allow posts from guests) and then presumably it will show up in the Flagged Posts list? And can people get a PM or email alert from it? Sorry if this has already been answered bu...

Yeah ah, just so you dont forget my post last time on this thread. I want to know how do I set up PHPadmin for your mod? I did not change the files or anything. I am very new to PHPAdmin You shouldn't need to do any of this. Just use EasyMOD to do the install http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewforum...

20, see Volunteer Forum's post right above for a matching request and a workaround that you might use.

Hi. All installed, ACP spamwords can be accessed and words can be added, but when the word comes up in a topic, nothing happens?? Please help Make sure you have enabled the filter in the Configuration in the Control Panel (Select "No" for "Disable Spam words filter"). IIRC, it is installed with the...

Hi Joe - I am still getting the time thing occassionally. I have an error that may be related, though. When I do a "Delete All Flagged Posts" it does so, but I receive this error on the control panel, subSilver style: Could not get post ID DEBUG MODE SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL sy...

I have made the changes, and it does not seem to cause any more "time travel" issues. I think everything is now appearing - I did a check of some of the ones that disappeared, and they seem to be back. An observation: the weird dates for "Most Recent" within each forum seem to stay there until someo...
