OpenGraph code was replaced or broken by 3.3.0

I just realized that my OpenGraph code must have been overwritten by the update from 3.2.3 to 3.3.0. I share my forum posts once in a while on some FB groups and the thumbnail that FB grabs looks AWFUL because it's a transparent PNG of the header logo and it just doesn't work. I had uploaded a diffe...

One is

Total topics 54121
the other
Total topics 595

The lower one is relatively new and the larger one is 13 years old but has had a fair bit of pruning over the years

the sitemap works well on both :)
That's a good sized forum!

Re: What is the general consensus on Cloudflare with PHPBB

My site isn't very big, only 140 topics according to the stats at the bottom, but it's also only about a year old and very specific.

Re: What is the general consensus on Cloudflare with PHPBB

I don't use sitemaps since the extensions seemed not well tested and it was mentioned that they're just not needed. Google seems to be able to crawl the site ok and my rankings are pretty good. PageSpeed seems to report that on a mobile platform it performs the worst, but that doesn't seem to coinci...

Re: What is the general consensus on Cloudflare with PHPBB

 True, the other non-CDN page does have a better score overall from PageSpeed! I think after doing so much looking into it, I have become kind of obsessed with making everything as streamlined as possible, but that may not actually matter... The index page on my forum loads within 1.4 sec usual...

Re: What is the general consensus on Cloudflare with PHPBB

Now that my host fixed a lag issue after a server move, the issue really isn't speed since they've always been fast, it's more that Cloudflare claims to auto minify CSS files which seems to be the main concern of all the speed test sites I use, including PageSpeed. SiteGround moved us (shared hosti...

Re: What is the general consensus on Cloudflare with PHPBB

Thanks VERY much for the in depth review of your experiences! My main goal would speed page load speed more than anything. I do get the occasional spam on the site, but it's trapped in the 'first post approval' method and they get banned there. I get most of my traffic from the US, however there is ...

Re: What is the general consensus on Cloudflare with PHPBB

There are two schools of thought: 1. Cloudflare makes little or no difference on a dynamic site such as phpBB, and in fact can, and does, at times create problems. 2. Cloudflare will give you some protection and some increased performance, especially if you have a large site. With the ever evolving...

Re: Upgrading from 3.2.1 to 3.3.0

The best way to upgrade is to just follow the upgrade instructions which basically explain to delete certain files/folders and replace with 3.3.0 versions then run the /install and it will only update the database to 3.3.0. I went from 3.2.3 and it went flawlessly. When using Filezilla make sure to ...

What is the general consensus on Cloudflare with PHPBB

My hosting provider offers Cloudflare as a 1-click option for my entire domain which includes a WP site and also a pretty active PHPBB forum. After a spell with slow server response times and many many GT Metrix and PageSpeed reports, I'm trying to improve speed even more and it seems a CDN is recom...

Re: Page load times seem slow for anyone?

I guess there's no shame in saying who they are so Siteground is my host and they have been very good over the years. I'm on their highest tier for shared hosting and their support has been good. As you mentioned and I suspect, they are basically just showing me that it's fine and there are no issue...

Re: Page load times seem slow for anyone?

I apologize for the delay guys! I heard back from the host today and they again said that it looked good on their end and sent another GT Metrix report with delays of only 1.5 sec, which is NOW what I'm seeing and seems to be what you are seeing as well. I'm not sure what has changed or if they corr...

Re: Page load times seem slow for anyone?

Is the same PHP version on the new server? There have been significant performance gains in recent PHP versions. Have you asked your hosting provider to double check loads on the new server. Perhaps they’ve misconfigured something? According to PHP info section of the Admin CP we're on 7.3.15. I ha...

Re: Page load times seem slow for anyone?

Well, even on the test forum, site speed is brutal. Page load times are the same, no theme, just prosilver. I don't run many extensions but I did disable all but Google Analytics, PHPBB Media Embed, VigLink, and User Details. Theme doesn't seem to be the issue. Even in the Admin CP, load times betwe...
