One thing that I've done though it's not the cleanest solution and I'm not recommending it to anyone else... I didn't want to completely disable guest posts, but from reading through my server logs, and judging from the comments here, it's fairly likely the guy is using a script of some kind. With t...

Ok.. nevermind about the php version... Having just helped a person on IRC who was having the exact same problem as you I can now say that it's not the php version. Apparently it is coffee cup ftp. This person was using it as well, and as soon as I had her try a different method of ftp'ing the auth....

I did just notice one rather odd thing with what you posted above that I hadn't noticed the first time... What you posted for the lines with line numbers cannot be correct... in the original auth.php what you have for lines 277 - 279 should all be on one line.... soooo if this is truely what your fi...

As per my post in the other topic on this subject.... If you are getting parse errorsd in one of the files, then either your php version is too old to support some of the commands, or you (or your uploading process) has modified something in the files. If there was actually a problem in the distribu...

Just another clarification if I might...

You are saying that it is an upgrade, but if I'm reading your post correctly you are saying that your database is completely empty?

If it's an upgrade how did the database get completly empty.. were you actually running the board on your Host previously?

Just a quick note that the very top thing there seems to be a parse error in auth.php... The only way this would happen is one of a couple of different things... 1. you have somehow modified auth.php 2. you installed 2.0 in the same directory as 1.4 without first deleting all 1.4.x files as recommen...

Try searching the boards... This is already being discussed in another topic... Also nowhere on this board is the correct place for bug reports.. Those go to the sourceforge bugtracker as mentioned in the "How to report bugs" topic or in the readme files...

Locky, locky..

The @ just tells it to ignore errors..., it actually has been added to the latest CVS stuff :) Actually you must have modified the board somewhat, or installed some kind of mod, because on a stock RC-4 install that isn't what's on line 481-484 :) My guess would be that you are trying to add somethin...

Actually in their case it has more to do with their hosts disabling ini_get... a function we use to determine if file uploads are available or not... Why in the world a host thinks they would need to disable ini_get I have no idea... I mean ini_set I could see, but ini_get just allows you to read va...

What version of php are you running... I know that some versions of php had problems with the @ symbol being in front of functions... Try removing the @ from in front of the include statement.. This won't fix your problem, but the error moves to another line, then the issue is definately a php versi...

As mentioned this is a weakness of shared hosting... It is also a fairly well known issue with Sourceforge. The fact of the matter is that in any situation your data is only as secure as the server it's installed on. It is assumed that those having shell access to the server are trustworthy. In the ...

Yeah... upgrade from the install is only for Upgrading from 1.4.x.... Not from a previous RC... For previous RC's always look for update_to scripts... and more importantly READ DIRECTIONS in read me files and the announcements on this board.
