Re: Discuss: MOD Team Transformation/Rename

Happy to see this change! I was MOD Team leader a decade ago, and this sounds like a much more modern direction :D

Re: phpBB Falling Behind?

Yeah, I don't think ivory tower applies here. Area51 is great for getting user feedback. Also, I want to amend my statements a bit, feeling now I was a little too specific. There are many ways forward for phpBB and I trust the dev team and management to sort that out. I do think that however you go ...

Re: phpBB Falling Behind?

Hey All, Blast from the past here. I owe a ton to phpBB. I cut my teeth as a developer tearing through phpBB code and then getting involved in the community. I know how hard it is to have a full-time job and try to volunteer time towards a project. Especially when it is visible to the public with ev...

AFAIK it only effected the popup version for about 2 hours and the as-you-type servers were not affected. Glad you guys like the favelet. I'll be sure to checkout that condition you were talking about. Definitely a few display tweaks that remain to be worked out, but I'm confident I'll get them ;) A...

For some reason in the last few days spelling cow has stopped working. When someone clicks the Spell Check button it stays blank and says "Done". I've had it on my site over a year and I have not installed any new mods. Can someone help? FYI, I logged into your site and it all worked well...

Yup, definitely will be a priority to make it working with as many browser/OS combos as possible. Seeing it not working on FF on ANY OS is a disappointment so I'll be sure to check that out! As for your stats, I'm sure you understand those aren't reality. We'd all love to see FF with a 42% market sh...

Okay, I'm in a better mood now... had my 4 month old crying as I was trying to type and I do apologize for my tone :P Again, the comparison of Open Office to a web app is completely invalid. With Open Office you are dealing with Windows or other OS API to render the results. Although OO is open sour...

Uh.... OpenOffice is a compiled program you install on your computer. This is a WEB APPLICATION - meaning powered by javascript. I know the as-you-type version is so slick you might not be able to tell the difference, but it's a HUGE in terms of what site owners can offer their users. That's why the...

Hey All, I've not put together a MOD yet but there's a new AS YOU TYPE version of SpellingCow available over at www.spellingcow.com . You just need to drop in one line and you're good to go! I have the favelet installed and am actually spell checking this post as I type right now :P It's pretty swee...

Only have time to post a quick note..... Dear SpellingCow user, SpellingCow has been affected by the historic flooding in Massachusetts this week and we are only now able to work towards resolution. Emails are only just now coming in since the outage. The outage will continue for a bit longer. If it...

Will you be using EasyMOD to install? If so, then just give it a shot and see what happens. EM will not install it if there is a problem, so no harm done ;) Also, the lite version of SpellingCow is included in a subfolder of the download, so need to look any further :D

That is certainly a mega-MOD, so it's hard to know. It certainly will work, but since I think that MOD also uses the Profile Control Panel, then you probably need to do a few tweaks. I know for a fact the "lite" installation of SpellingCow will install without problems. Just won't have an ...

You told me that you previously went to toggle the user_autospell setting. Simply go to the same location, and at some point the SQL tab should appear. There's actually MANY different places you can enter SQL in phpMyAdmin. Just make sure you empty out the textarea before dropping in any of those li...

Oh good, you've got phpMyAdmin. Here's what you do: 1) go to your phpBB database in phpMyAdmin 2) there should be a tab called "SQL". Click that and there should be a textarea where you can enter in SQL commands. 3) Enter into the box... UPDATE `phpbb_users` SET user_autospell=0 WHERE 1 ; ...

If you executed BOTH SQL statements in the spellingcow_auto_off.txt MOD included in the lite_version_and_addons folder, then this will ABSOLUTELY solve the problem. One statement fixes NEW users, and the other fixes EXISTING users. Sounds to me like you only did the fix for NEW users. If you still h...
