Yes just put an .htaccess file and define ur ip or localhost as the person able to access your folder, or tell ur firewall to disable apache from accessing web.

I think if you have different mods on forums u might even have issues with transferring users as some mods ad stuff to users list tables and stuff.

Seems like SQL issue with the host, if you are doing the right thing and following step. Try asking your host to look into it as suggested.

Subsilver.. Nothing special, it just stopped working yesterday. Maybe your server you are hosted on is freaking out maybe cause the list is too big , plus did u update your forums maybe recently? And you said it stopped working all the sudden only yesterday, but how do you know that ? Maybe it stop...

Try switching to subsilver and see if you notice same problem. Cause using different themes can cause undesireable results. Just yourself stick to default theme if you wish to use full functionality of admin section.

Nope its just simple as this : Create Blank SQL with some user and username. Edit your config.php file according to above username and db name. Go to phpmyadmin and do restore as suggested above in that blank new db. PS: i am tired and heading to bed so maybe someoneelse can help you sort this out, ...

Well first you need to sort out the error first you get visiting http://www.theclementsfamilyreunion.com/forum , than we can proceed. Look at error logs if your host provides cpanel the should have error logs there. If it permissions issue you will see it right there. But make sure forum folder does...
