Re: Should SELinux be enabled or disabled for using phpbb 3.3.0?

phpBB runs just fine with SELinux, but you do need to know how to configure SELinux for web applications (not phpBB specific). The most common issues we see are: Copying files from your home directory to your web server directory. This leaves the file with their original security context. They need ...

Re: 403 Errors with specific strings in topic post bodies

Your site owner will need to talk to their web host. It sounds like you're tripping one of their mod_security rules.

Do you have any extensions installed? Yes
What extensions do you have installed? This usually means one of your extensions hasn't been updated for 3.3.0.

If you look at your forum hoster's site, it tells you this:
We are sorry. Due to website’s financial difficulties and financial realities associated with coronovirus, this site is offline and will not be restarted. We apologize for any inconveniences.

Re: And yet ANOTHER post for "directory not writable"...

Attempting to install on CentOS 8 This will be what's causing the problem, since CentOS uses SELinux. For that, you need to ensure that your security contexts are set correctly. Setting the permissions alone will not make it writable with SELinux. You can use the Z flag to see what the security con...

Re: phpBB Cookies

Those two cookies appear to come from the CleanTalk anti-spam extension: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... cleantalk/

As for the 'nf7ab', phpBB randomly generates a cookie name at install time. You can change this name under Cookie Settings in the Administration Control Panel.

Re: What is the general consensus on Cloudflare with PHPBB

I read about the IP issues and also found where a simple verification setting could just be turned off in the AdminCP, but not sure if that's advisable either? The solution is to install the correct module on your web server: https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/sections/200805497-Restoring-Visi...

Re: Hacker...

I hear this all the time, but with phpBB 3.0 I know damn well there were certain hacks I read about. Would you care to cite some evidence in support of this? That's a rather provocative statement, considering. https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/2007 Please see section IV of this article about that...

Re: Where's the maximum password length box gone?

There is no longer a maximum length setting. The language string just didn't get updated to reflect that. This has already been fixed in 3.3.1: https://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/PHPBB3-16311

Re: Fatal Error while updating to v3.3.0 from v3.2.8

... for the right syntax to use near 'database table prefixconfig' at line 2 [1064] $table_prefix = 'database table prefix'; Is that what you really put for that value? It's usually something like phpbb_ . If you don't know what it is, look at your database tables and see what they all start with.

Re: phpbb 3.3 not run in PHP 7.2.27

As Steve has said, that file does not exist in phpBB 3.2 or 3.3. It exists only in phpBB 3.1.x. If the file is there, that means you have a mix of files from different versions. The instructions for updating can be found here: https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... upgrade32/
