Re: Unable to migrate Hashed (MD5 phpBB3) password to Firebase

phpBB3 doesn't use MD5 hashes, only phpBB2 did. 3.0.x used phpass password hashing, which is what the $H$ at the beginning of the hash indicates. In 3.1.x, we moved to bcrypt hashes.

Re: Using LDAP, need to hide register links

From what I understand I do NOT want to disable registration as that would defeat the automatic account creation for new users. True? That is not true. That ACP setting only disables the links and the registration page itself. Authentication backends are still able to register users. For LDAP deplo...

Re: Spam emails

We don't provide your information to anyone else. If you do a search in Google for your email address in double quotes, you will find a website which lists it. That's probably why you're getting spam emails.

How do I configure this? Via htaccess?
Yes. You can add something like this to the beginning of your .htaccess file:

Code: Select all

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]

Re: Sid

Those settings are correct, provided that you only access the site over HTTPS. The Secure Cookie setting will break your cookies if you access the site over both HTTP and HTTPS. That setting should only be used if the site can only be accessed over HTTPS and not HTTP.

1; If I turn this on am I then locked out of my admin account? All admin accounts are currently db authentication. ie; is there mixed mode where some accounts use LDAP and others are db authentication? It is not mixed-mode. Your current session will remain active, so you will be able to log in with...

Any tweaks apart from enabling Redis in your config
That's all you need to do to enable Redis as the cache.

Code: Select all

$acm_type = 'phpbb\\cache\\driver\\redis';

If you are trying to pass the password on the commandline, there cannot be a space between the -p and the password.

Re: Crossed Logins - users suddenly logged in under another username

There are two situations where this happens: Your host sets up a proxy in front of your site. You can tell this by looking at the Who Is Online list and seeing if every user has the same IP (usually the IP of the proxy). The proxy can be their own hardware or something like CloudFlare. The host need...

Re: Referral spam that goes to explicit websites...

This is nothing new and not unique to phpBB. There is no harm caused by them and it's just an attempt to get website owners to click links they find in their access logs. Your best bet is blocking whatever keywords you want at the Apache level: RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} keyword1 [NC,OR] RewriteCon...

Re: Keep getting logged out

If your site is sudaneenforums.com, then your cookie domain needs to be: .sudaneenforums.com
Also, "Cookie secure" should be disabled since your site is available over HTTP.

Re: SSL Settings

This is not caused by changing your SSL settings. This is caused by your host blocking a function we use. You can work around this by making the following change: Open: includes/acp/acp_board.php Find: $mod_rewrite = (bool) in_array('mod_rewrite', apache_get_modules()); Replace with: //$mod_rewrite ...

Re: phpBB 3.1.0-dev upgrading to phpBB 3.2.2

Based on the files, your board is not running 3.1.0-dev, but is instead running 3.0.x; most likely 3.0.7-PL1. To upgrade to 3.1.0, make a backup of your files and database, then follow Steve's steps.

Is your server really running PHP 4.4.9? The minimum requirements to run phpBB 3.1.x is PHP 5.3.3.
