Re: SQL ERROR [ mysqli ] No such file or directory [2002]

Final update.

This was solved with two instructions on the command line

Code: Select all

> rm /var/lib/mysql/tc.log
> systemctl start mysql
... although I have to admit the path from the error messages to this solution seems obscure to me.

Thank you 3Di. Your link helped.

... that dropped the number of spambots that got through down to about 10% of those that attempted to get in. 10% is still high. A good Q&A can get that down to 0.0x % I agree. Of those that managed to register, virtually none were ever able to post even without a moderator queue. I expect it'll ta...

Re: Post (2.x to 3.2.7) conversion clean up

I thought I'd follow up on this topic. re: the search index. So far, so good. It seems to be working fine. If anything has not been indexed as a result of the browser crash I haven't been able to find it (as ironic as that might sound) re: the problem of a regular member being able to see a portion ...

Post (2.x to 3.2.7) conversion clean up

The conversion from phpbb 2.x to 3.2.7 went reasonably well. About six hours to convert the database. Building the search index took another twelve hours. One browser crash while indexing but firefox restored the session so I hope it continued without too much error. It wouldn't have been so bad if ...

Re: [BETA] Reset User Post Count

This download is no longer available. I was wondering if this extension will ever be created as an 'official' version. I thought I could use a "Reset User Post Count" for testing post-based permissions and groups. Yes, it's true, I can edit the database directly but an extension would be a handy dan...

Re: Permissions review / overview

What I canĀ“t remember now is whether there is a permission regarding "can use the PM system". If there is then perhaps even reading a PM sent by the admin would be impossible. ACP > Permissions > User Roles > Pick-a-role > Settings > Private messages > The two very last lines -- Can read private me...

Re: Permissions review / overview

Yes, as admin, I can see and use email for all members. And from the profile too. Interestingly, and quite correctly, if a group is disallowed private messages then the PM link does not display in the profile. Doesn't matter if I'm admin. No point sending a message if they are not allowed to read or...

warmweer, Actually, I used the mask to test out a recent situation. I had set the forum to allow registered members to use the email feature but the email link didn't show up in user profiles. Re: [split] Email not working

A little bit of follow up for you, EA. Part of my trouble was DNS corruption at a registrar with the result the domain name of a test email was not resolving properly and so the test address I was using could not be reached. And there we have an explanation for one source of undelivered mail. Part o...
