Re: The category title will be in the middle

How do you remove it from where? This would remove it from the header bars on the board index page. .forabg .header a {visibility: hidden;} But is probably not the best option, since that anchor is probably useful for several things. Another option would be: .forabg .header a {color: transparent;} O...

Re: Question about basic template syntax.

Oh, this. Well, as it turns out I now know what possessed them to use that syntax. I was obviously inspired by SSI syntax. Which made sense once I thought of it, but not having looked at SSI for yonks (even though it can be rather useful at times) it had slipped my mind. :)

Re: How to reduce the use of the quoted text

Note related to this point — but probably also in furtherance of the point that the current quoting behavior is not necessarily obvious or intuitive — phpBB already has the "quote only highlighted text" functionality... Interesting. Thanks for the heads up. I'd never noticed that feature. Perhaps b...

Re: How to reduce the use of the quoted text

Hey, have you tried this? https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension/modern_quote It says 3.2.2 but it may work in 3.3.0, or if not it may be easy to modify so it does work. Since that only quotes highlighted text, and nothing else, you should be able to hide the standard quote button if that exte...

Re: How to reduce the use of the quoted text

Yes that sort of thing tends to works best when you only have a few miscreants. It can be a lot of fun for the staff. Great way to get revenge on members who insist on being annoying. ;) The quote function simply quotes the entire post. I can't see why anyone would intuitively expect it to do anythi...

Re: How to reduce the use of the quoted text

Here's an idea. Make a new membergroup. Use the group id to set an extra CSS class on the quote button. Set CSS to make the button move all over the place (CSS transitions). Use this as a secondary group for anyone who is misbehaving. When they complain about it, point them at the guide and tell the...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

I think it's reactions like this that have him madly backpedalling: Walter Shaub, the former director of the Office of Government Ethics, added: “It is incomprehensible to me that a moron like this holds the highest office in the land and that there exist people stupid enough to think this is OK. I ...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

They say every cloud has a silver lining. Now if a Jehovah's witness or somebody else comes to the door and I dont want to be bothered, All I have to do is cough, And ask "Who is it".... Might not work. We have at least one idiot over here who is convinced that "the blood of Jesus will protect me"....

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

I agree that would be an excellent idea. However, China's behaviour in Tibet does nothing to excuse Trump's behaviour, just as Trump's behaviour does nothing to excuse China's behaviour in Tibet, or Orban's behaviour in Hungary, or for that matter Idi Admin's behaviour in Uganda and Pinochet's behav...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

Just in case anyone was naively harbouring the mistaken idea that Trump could not possible sink lower: he's just gone and done it. When President Donald Trump tweeted "LIBERATE MINNESOTA!" on Friday morning, some of his most fervent supporters in far-right communities — including those who have agit...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

What we need now, is a sudden surge in cases again. I don't think that is quite the right way of phrasing it, :P since what it means is "Hey it'd be really good if a shitload more people got sick and died from this thing". We are bound to get recurring outbreaks anyway, as soon as restrictions are ...

If I want opions I have numerous sources to get opinions, when I watch the news I want facts presented in unbiased matter and I'll form my opinion. I don't know how old you are but how the news is presented has drastically changed over the past 3 decades. I'm considerably older than three decades. ...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

That's an old one. The US has been calling itself "the leader of the free world" since the days of the Cold War. You must have led a sheltered life if you haven't heard it before. To be fair, at one time it was a title they had a valid claim to, although even then they had a habit of supportin...
