Re: I need some advice with an update gone bad...

Hi Warmweer Thank you for posting, it seems that I'm safe for now but it may be helpful in the future. Then empty the database and import your 3.2 backup, then replace the current fileset, with the fileset from before th upgrade Just to make sure I understand this correctly. If I do need to rebuild,...

Re: I need some advice with an update gone bad...

The forum loaded again! and I was able to disable problems. I received the same message of php errors with the extensions and that phpbb disabled extensions.

Is this built into phpBB? it will restart w/o extensions when it runs into a problem... pretty cool!

thanks all!

Re: I need some advice with an update gone bad...

Thank you SSL Unfortunately I can’t access the forum anymore. It loads a blank page. At this point the db has been updated to 3.3 from 3.2. And I have the original 3.2 config.php file and the files, store, images and the ext folders to work with. But I hadn’t disabled/deleted the extensions before s...

I need some advice with an update gone bad...

I updated from 3.2 to 3.3 using the full package and it didn't go well. Everything went smoothly, db updated etc until I loaded the site it was blank. I think it was an incompatible extension that was still active which I didn't turn off. Eventually I was able to get the forum to load (not sure how)...

Re: Transfer a 3.3 forum... is this still OK info >

You can usually access your old host cpanel after your domain has moved
perfect, so even though I may not be able to access the old site after I transfer the DNS, I should be able to grab the database via phpMyAdmin ... just in case

thanks

Re: Transfer a 3.3 forum... is this still OK info >

Glad to hear that Bluehost is working well for you. Yes the price is good when they run their introductory specials. Cpanel is very easy to use for set up - file manager, Mysql database setup and phpmyadmin to import your board database. Did you install phpBB via their cPanel/Mojo-Marketplace instal...

Re: Transfer a 3.3 forum... is this still OK info >

Most of the time you can setup your old board on the new server and test it. If everything is working, lock your old board, transfer the database again and edit the dns from old server to the new one. Downtime mostly under the 2 hours. Thanks, I was hoping that would work. I guess I'll need to see ...

Transfer a 3.3 forum... is this still OK info >

I've searched and found the following forum transfer information for 3.1, is this still good info for 3.3 and 3.2? https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3.1/kb/article/transferring-your-board-to-a-new-host-or-domain/ My forum is currently 3.29 and I was thinking about upgrading to 3.3 and then trans...

Re: Xrumer Q&A questions

"If you have a specific forum subject you could ask them to enter a specialist word that's likely to be known to interested people but not the bots. A word in the site description or one of the categories perhaps." That was how the previous question was created, and it did work for awhile. But I gue...

Re: Xrumer Q&A questions

I'm lucky that it's small focused forum, so I have the luxury of being able to require Admin activation on top of the Q&A block. I can't imagine keeping a forum of this size safe... it’s way beyond my tech skills (and patience) :)

all the best,

Re: Xrumer Q&A questions

Hi Mick Thanks for the quick response, I hesitate to post it and invite more attention to the forum. I've changed the Q&A this morning so hopefully this will help. The Q&A had worked well for quite awhile and I only had to fend off individuals, but over the last couple days this has changed. After a...
