Re: Plupload and Image Orientation Redux

Sorry for my slow comprehension of your original problem description. I'm a newbie to phpBB (Joomla/Kunena usual forum fiddling). That's logical behaviour. Glad it's working for you now. I'm hoping for possibly tuning different attachment limits/dimensions for different forums on the same board even...

Re: Plupload and Image Orientation Redux

Out of interest. Your thumbnail is 3.45 Mib. What is the file size of the original image? Using plupload via attachments - add files to a post, i'm getting compression of image size of at least 50% and in some cases a 10:1 ratio. That's on 3.3.0 I notice that if I 'open image in new tab' on the rota...

Re: Plupload and Image Orientation Redux

I made the edit you suggested, purged the cache, and uploaded the image in my previous example again - still no love: http://59plymouth.net/59test/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=3358&p=22879#p22879 Ah, I see. OK until you 'expand'. Over to KYPREO. Good way of presenting images though - particularly for techn...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

The Scots have a saying "many a mickle makes a muckle". My contribution might not individually achieve anything, but it makes me feel better having this Windows machine and an Ubuntu server chipping in. The server is very lightly loaded much of the time so it's achieving a pretty good turnaround tim...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

Apparently William Shakespeare wrote “King Lear” while he was self isolating during the plague. So, all you aspiring coders and extension writers should use this opportunity to write something awesome :D Or get your machines using spare processor time to help in the fight: https://unraid.net/blog/h...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

The EU constantly takes advice from unelected members, that was one of the arguments to leave. The EU civil service and even the EU commission members are accountable to the EU parliament. Mr Cummings is a Senior Political Adviser, appointed directly by and accountable to nobody except Boris Johnso...

Re: The-future-of-forums vs FB

Images uploaded from smartphones to forums are not always viewed on smartphones. Anyway, the latest version of plupload works well on phpBB for images (once tweaked). Most images have about a 4:3 aspect ratio, unless you have 4K monitor 1200px*900px is about the maximum for most monitors(once you i...

Reports of panic buying in the UK. Toilet roll - how do you keep a new born baby's bum clean? Pasta - long shelf life, To Be Fair if facing possible self isolation at short notice. 2) Ease of uploading high quality photographs and videos -particularly direct from a smartphone. 2) is improving on phpBB using client side compression. There is no limitations other than what you set for images. The roadblocks you are going to encounter are server limitations. Creating a thumb fro...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

My point is also that the process of vaccine production, once a vaccine is found, might be accelerated by production equipment being ready and waiting. The pace of development of scientific equipment is huge and so are the costs. No one would be able to pay 6 figures for a machine to sit there and d...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

It will make little, or no, difference if there was equipment/facilities waiting to be used in an emergency as the time needed to find the vaccine would still be the same - arguably it could take longer due to having to "start up" the process. Perhaps in terms of vaccine development, though I still...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

But you can't just fund all this stuff to sit around waiting for something to happen. Yes you can use it for other research in the meantime but the cost to keep it all running, staff, service contracts, building costs, consumables etc is astronomical. So primarily some of those resources will be re...

Re: The Coronavirus Topic

But you also need the locations and expertise to do the tests. I really am a scientist and we could do testing if asked but we're lucky enough to already have the equipment to do it. It's not trivial sums of money or numbers of people needed to do this stuff. The testing instruments are 6-figures t...
