Re: Nature of cookies beeing set

Thanks for showing me the Load Settings, I didn't realise they were there.

Brf, to answer your question, no I didn't delete cookies when shutting down the browser.

I guess the question remains, how does a session persist even if the browser is restarted?

Re: Nature of cookies beeing set

Thanks for trying to clear this up :)

If it's only session cookies used to track if I'm logged in or not, wouldn't they be deleted by the browser upon restarting it, and therefore I would no longer be logged in? I thought that was the nature of non-persistent cookies.

Re: Nature of cookies beeing set

I guess permanent cookies enable "Log me on automatically each visit", right? If I don't select that option when logging in, then close my browser (Firefox 3.0.14), and then re-open the browser and open the site, I am still logged in. Why is that, shouldn't it have forgotten about my logged in status?

Re: Topic icons not changing

Sure thing (didn't want to put a link if it's against forum rules).

Topic icons not changing

I'm using 3.0.5, and a customised version of prosilver. The problem is that the topic icons on the forum are not changing according to the ones I specified in ACP -> Styles -> Imagesets. I want different icons for "Topic", "Topic posted to", "Topic popular" etc. When viewing the forum, all topic row...

Nature of cookies beeing set

Does phpBB 3.0.5 set persistent cookies in the browser, rather than just session cookies? If so, why not just use session cookies? My forum was running under 2.x until recently. One of the forum members is concerned about security. He allows session cookies, but blocks all other cookies. As a result...

Clarification of permissions - Limit editing time

phpBB 3.0.5 Under ACP -> General -> Post Settings, I can set "Limit editing time" to, say 5 minutes. However, I'd like to clarify how this would affect moderators and regular members. Under group or forum permissions, I don't see a way to say "let moderators edit posts no matter what, but only let r...

Logging number of users online?

Hey,

pretty straighforward: is there a way to log the number of users that are currently online - e.g. a log every 15 minutes of how many people are online at that time?

Regards,

Online status inaccuarate (or is it just me?)

I'm running phpBB 2.0.22. I'm curious about the "who's online" status at the bottom of my forum. I understand that it covers data about the last five minutes, that it's updated every 60 seconds (I think), and is based on the phpbb_sessions table. However, I just don't see it listing all registered u...

I've been looking further at this. I have a feeling that a JOIN or HAVING statement could help, but I still cannot work it out. Any help appreciated :)

I use the following mod, and it work quite nicely. It displays the advert as a post, or "inside" a posting, under the post text. You can set it to display under 1st post, or 2nd post, etc. Not sure where I found it in the first place. ############################################################## ##...

First off, you need to correct the PHP call: <?php include_once ('http://www.scrapbooksuppliesdirect.com/gallery/toppage_inc.php'); ?> I think you should also use a relative path (do not call the file over HTTP), as follows: <?php include_once ('gallery/toppage_inc.php'); ?> You may need to change t...

(MySQL) "Last X topics you have posted in"

Hi, I am developing a mod to display "Last X topics you have posted in", and need some SQL help! The list displays the "latest" topics you have posted in. The list is ordered in descending order according to your last in each topic. So, the last topic you have posted in will be at the top of the lis...

I have not seen one, but this is an interesting idea. Although I am not sure that any of the search engines use the description tag anymore. Try using the MOD Search . If you don't find anything you can try posting in the MOD Requests forum. Thanks. I have read that Google might be paying attention...
