Re: Minimise forum spam

I confirm that your extension 'Obscure Contact Us' is the best to solve the spam issue in contact form. But I do not agree with the opinion regarding Google Recaptcha. Installed on my site, previously quite spammy, I literally reduced it to 0. It is also 0 intrusive to the user (invisible recaptcha...

Re: 'app.php' Robots.txt rule disallow

You can prevent Google, and other bots, from accessing areas that you do not want to be indexed by setting the appropriate permissions for the bots group. David responded with the simplest and quickest way to do what you want. You are just making it harder for yourself by doing it your way. I belie...

Can someone get to my database from the root files without logging in?
I said it because previously you had a backup of the site in the root, which could have a copy of the db

Re: Confused by update process

Section 2.5.3, “Automatic Update” I take advantage of this topic to ask some questions about the update that are not mentioned in the link on how to update -If I have a style that is not the default prosilver, can I update with that style? Should I update it before to the latest version or after up...

Re: Upgrade to 3.3 fails due to PHP incompatibilty

Pls delete the link to the instalation of your site. You have given direct access to anyone to download the backup you have of your site that I suppose will include the database.

Show the errors.log of your server when you update the php version to +7.1.3 to know how to help you

You can prevent Google, and other bots, from accessing areas that you do not want to be indexed by setting the appropriate permissions for the bots group. It gives me the feeling that for your answer you have not even read what I put. The question is: is it correct to block app.php from robots.txt?

Re: Showing docs/CHANGELOG.html in my forum but not here

if you are removing the protection provided by the htaccess files then you may be leaving some directories open where anyone could see the file list. so, don't remove that default protection and you should be fine. robert The directory listing is denied at the general level of the server, so that w...

'app.php' Robots.txt rule disallow

Create my own robots.txt file to prevent google from wasting time indexing uninteresting routes on my website, such as 'memberlist.php? Mode = viewprofile & u = 108' The doubt arises to me that it blocks app.php since google was crawling many urls with the following structure: mydomain.com/app.p...

Re: Showing docs/CHANGELOG.html in my forum but not here

If you had backup files, either SQL or Tar files (gz, brz2) and somebody happened to know a filename of any of them, your website might have been compromised. Luckily it was not the case (only a backup made and deleted after a few seconds), but if it had not been for this conversation, in the futur...

As shown in the title, said file is visible in my forum through this path, which in a certain part leaves the path open to know the current version.
Even without access to those files it is possible to find out which version of phpBB your board is running.

Re: Showing docs/CHANGELOG.html in my forum but not here

Some directories already block files to prevent information disclosure, like the store/ or the images/avatars/upload/ directories or the config.php and common.php files. I use the WAF Naxsi, to block "suspicious" requests. You can safely delete the docs/ directory. Shit, okay I need the o...

Re: Showing docs/CHANGELOG.html in my forum but not here

Read about disabling directory indexing. Is that what you were looking for? https://www.phpbb.com/community/docs/CHANGELOG.html Oh right, I forgot the route I was hanging from, I apologize. Yes, I knew the term 'disabling directory indexing' and it is activated on the server, but that only prevents...

Showing docs/CHANGELOG.html in my forum but not here

As shown in the title, said file is visible in my forum through this path, which in a certain part leaves the path open to know the current version. I notice that here in phpbb.com that path is not accessible, is there something that I am missing in terms of security? I follow the basic conventions ...

Re: navbar phpBB

I have the original files on my PC which you are welcome to, but everything is hard coded. I used that as a basis for my Header Links Extension Thanks for the input, I'll look at it. Do you plan to release this custom code to users in the future? You might find it on Github What github?
