I really feel that the term "SEO" is pretty overblown these days. Search engines can figure out what your site and pages are about without going to great lengths. If you have a site people love, you most likely will do fine with the search engines too.
Well, the best thing we can do is continue to educate ourselves about what is going on, and try to talk about it with others. It can be a slow process, but by cultivating the concept of learning and fair discussion, we can play a small part in turning this around.
I think now that the super rich have made as much as they can on real estate, you can bet they will move to other areas, and commodities like oil seem like likely choices.
I see lots of forums that have Adsense in the footer. I don't think this is a problem at all. I have had it in the footer on several of my sites for years.

I sort of found a formula that works for me, and tend to use the same basic idea on different forum sites. Version 3 changes things. I know at some point I'm going t...
Good points. How a page ranks in the search results is what is most important in most cases, not the pagerank assigned to it. I have a couple of different forums that rank well for thousands of terms, but have a low pagerank, so pagerank is not what makes a community successful. My guess is that goo...
Yes, and what I find interesting is they seem to be reducing the pagerank of the link sellers, which tells you pagerank is not based solely on the incoming links anymore. There is a certain vigilance this time. This is one of the most controversial updates I have ever seen.
Today has been a pretty big fiasco. Scores of high profile sites have been dropping pagerank. For example, linux.org seems to have dropped to 6 from 9.
I just noticed today the pagerank of phpBB.com is down to a PageRank 6. From what I have been reading, there is a penalty being assessed to sites that buy or sell links. I'm not sure if this is what happened. It is just a theory. What do you think?
