Re: Quick reply for phpBB3

I am having an issue again, peoples usernames in their posts, when you click them, it quotes them instead of opening their profile. Any ideas?

Re: Updating RC5 - 3.03

One issue now I have updated, on the "Post Reply" button it says the wording over the image - http://www.ukspotlight.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=17

Any idea how to rectify this?

It's a server side issue. Check the site logs to see what it's tripping out on.

Re: Updating RC5 - 3.03

You're replacing the files, not the database. The files control the version and the function and the look. The database has all the users and posts. If it was going to cause you to lose anything, we wouldn't suggest you doing it. Surprise, Surprise! - http://www.ukspotlight.co.uk/forum/ Internal Se...

Re: Updating RC5 - 3.03

Download all the files from the new version. Note: You will not need to transfer the config.php file, /images or /files folders. Upload the files to replace the ones on the real server. Upload the install folder from the full version of phpBB3. Go to yoursite.com/forumfolder/install/database_update...

Re: Updating RC5 - 3.03

Right, I think I am already to go. I have my old forum - RC5 - http://www.ukspotlight.co.uk/forum/ and now my new styled forum on 3.03 - http://whinternet.co.uk/forum/ How do I go about transferrring the files, and updating the new style with my Database? Also is it best to style the member colours ...

Re: Updating RC5 - 3.03

I have now started styling the other board - Original - http://www.ukspotlight.co.uk/forum/ (RC5) New - http://whinternet.co.uk/forum/ (3.03) But does anyone have like a guide to the files I need to edit, I have done a few, but am now a little lost in terms of the logo, colours, width size etc. Any ...

Re: Updating RC5 - 3.03

Yes you can, but how will that assist you in updating? If MySQL isn't installed, then you can't have a running RC5 board. All you need to do is upload fresh copies of the 3.0.3 files (except for config.php) and then run install/database_update.php by navigating to it in your browser. I would strong...

Re: Updating RC5 - 3.03

Something isn't set up right. Have you got apache and MySQL etc installed? If so, are they separate packages or an all in one deal such as easyphp1.8 or xampp? Ah that's be why, I have no SQL attached to the site, my host needs to do that right? Well I can't add any Databases to that server as it i...

Re: Updating RC5 - 3.03

Yes. You can do all the upgrading off line or on a second installation then move the files across (except for the config.php) and run the update file and it'll be fine. Thanks will give it a go :) Have tried installing on my Test Site and I get this when pointing at /forum/install - Internal Server...

Re: Updating RC5 - 3.03

Right I had an idea, just wanted to run it past you moguls, so you can see if its possible!

I have a test site, can I just put the new 3.3 Forum on there and style it as I want, then just overwrite the files on my RC5 forum. Will it still pick up the same Database, would this work?

Re: Updating RC5 - 3.03

you don't really have to shut it down. the only real problem that can occur is that if someone is registering or posting during the time the files are being transfered, it may give them an error. robert Thanks mate, scheduling to do this at the weekend, so will keep you posted on my progress (failu...
