I can't unlock my forum topics

UPDATE - I'VE SORTED THIS NOW! The Forum Type was set to Category (by default, when i created the Board), and as such there is no option to lock/unlock. When the Type is set to Forum, or when you view a Forum within the Category, the option is there - i'd simply been looking in the wrong place and m...

Re: How do i change to an https Server?

Most hosts these days offer a free SSL certificate which will give a sufficient level of security for a phpBB board. If you are running something like a shopping cart then you may need a higher level of certificate which you would have to pay for. You are right, my host does, although it creates a ...

Re: How do i change to an https Server?

Ok, thanks. I think i have to pay extra for an https upgrade. As long as i can go ahead and configure my Board and then upgrade to an https Server at a later date without any major issues with the Board then that's fine. I'm going to open a ticket with my host support chat and get some advice from t...

How do i change to an https Server?

I'm just in the process of setting up my first phpbb Board and am a little uneasy that my http domain might put people off joining due to login information not being secure. If i change to an https server would i have to upload the Board again from scratch or is it just a case of changing something ...

Re: Unable to login to my board

Follow Mick's advice and also try clearing your browser cache and/or logging in using a different browser. See my own topic on a similar issue:

Re: [split from] Unable to login to my board

UPDATE: The problem turned out to be a cookie cache issue in Firefox browser, in which the Board set-up was configured. This was ascertained by successfully logging on using a different browser (Edge). Clearing the cache in Firefox then allowed a successful login there too. I have also added a dot (...

The parent directory i installed these files into does not have an .html suffix
If your talking about the directory name it shouldn’t have a suffix.
Ok, thanks Mick.

Re: To .html or not to .html?

It's a php board so all of the URLs end in .php You can't change that. Or if you could your updating process would be a total nightmare. Nobody types URLs these days. They'll 'google' for it and just click the link. Hi KevC, thanks for your reply. I appreciate that people rarely type urls, it was j...

To .html or not to .html?

Hi. I'm new to phpbb forums and am currently in the process of installing a Board on my website. All my existing website pages use a .html suffix: this is the default method with the web building software i've used. Entering an url into a browser without the .html suffix renders a 404 error message....

Re: [split from] Unable to login to my board

UPDATE: Using Edge browser i am now able to create a new username but still can't access using my Admin ID. Additionally, when selecting Reset Password no confirmation email is going to my email client. It's obviously partly a browser/cookie issue otherwise i wouldn't be able to create a new usernam...

[split from] Unable to login to my board

Hey, i've just registered here to post about the same problem then saw this thread! I've set up my Board by installing the files via an FTP client to my server and have successfully entered the ACP (administrator control panel). However, once i log out i can't get back in. The message is 'submittedd...
