Again,
Again, just for the fun of it - the problem has very little to do with how good MD5 is (DES, 3DES, Blowfish, or whatever your fancy is).

[...]

All the exploits of phpBB to date had nothing to do with cracking the hash.

So, backing on to the poster who thinks it would take "less than an hour, and $25 to get the plain text" out of that 12 letter MD5 sum... just use the above maths, put 12 rather than 8. Thanks Neo. I think we should just put up a collection box to get 25 dollars, and have that guy get me the senten...

Actually, this dovetails very well into what I said on a security related thread. There are more and more people who use phpBB with less and less technical knowhow. Yes, of course they need to be polite and hummble, blah, blah, free stuff, blah, get what you pay for blah. If those who are in the kno...

alcaeus , if that is a real MD5 unsalted hash, it will take less then an hour, and $25 to get the plain text. In 24 hours you can crack about 114 with Rainbowcrack, or you can download a brute force tool like MDCrack. (No, I won't. I don't have $25 to prove a proven point, nor do I have a spare CPU...

Modification Database in a package

Would it be possible to get the MODs DB in a single compressed file?

How about 12, for each category?

Some are only a few kilobytes, some are even smaller. The whole package with the description would be even sweeter, but I would be happy with just the MODs themselves...

reiyo_oki, this is excellent. Request - Can you make the sides dynamic? i.e. allow the nav to appear on the left OR the right? Truth is, the menu is better to be on the right for most people per usability studies . :-D (Yes, I am a freak.) Most browsers have their vertical slide bars on the right si...

I don't know if there is a mod, but there are several ways you can go about geting a solution. First, some questions. Does your MSAccess DB need to be real time updated? Does the MSAccess database used by the same user for other products/solutions for authentication AND phpBB? One solution would be ...

I am SO SORRY! I was messing around with my web site, and the logo file was indeed on that site. I put some password protection on it while working on the system - completely forgetting about the logo! Forgive me all! Kevin Clark & churchyard, it is my web site, and my logo - and my fault. I remove...

Can we get a look at your coding, or MOD, for this? If you could post a topic with the code to do what you have done, and then post a link to it here it would be very much appreciated! It's not a MOD. It's a package I use to send out the messages. It has several other features, like multiple connec...

I would like a designed logo for my web site.

I have a SubSilver site, that is not yet deployed.

I need a logo that somehow represents health, wellness, diet, food, nutrition, and such.

Should be the 200px x 91px size.

[removed remotely hosted logo. Sorry for that all!]

Lets say your current path to phpBB is

Code: Select all

www/phpBB/
Install the old version of phpBB to:

Code: Select all

www/phpBB.old/
Making sure that the DB and the table names are matching with the original system.
Restore the DB

Then upgrade the phpBB.old to 2.0.11, which in turn also upgrades the schema of the DB to 2.0.11

I already do what pete suggests on #8. Only send using to: field with each message sent individually. The reason I cannot use phpBB's "mass" e-mailer is because it doesn't look at returned messages, bounces, failed deliveries, and requests to be removed. A good e-mailer package looks at returned me...
