Re: Language Preferences

Is the language always the main language or does it pass locale specifics at some point too? Ex: en_US

Thanks

Language Preferences

What is the best way to get both the board's default language and the users language preference? I've looked at $user->data['user_lang'] as one option. Thanks

Re: php 5.3 issues

I am starting to write stuff which requires php 5.3 and plan to update soon after the final release. The php team is planning on the final release sometime this fall , likely October. With that, I was just testing phpBB and tried to install with the latest php 5.3 snap. The phpBB installer fails rig...

Re: Official phpBB Podcast!

Good podcast, very interesting. One thing, you could probably cut out most of the "phpBB" when you're talking about the versions, just say version 2 or version 3. Not a big deal, just a suggestion. ;)

I plan on doing that but just in case it gets around that check. The MySQL code is 1062 I believe but I have yet to find the other database codes. Does anyone have a good list of those?

Re: Notify Administrator

Ok, I'm going to put my errors in the critical table which shows up as the Error Log in the adm. Is it ok to put HTML in the log entry? Should it be XHTML?

Re: Notify Administrator

Wow, I totally missed that. I didn't realize that func_get_args() was a PHP function and not something phpBB made. Taking a closer look at the function I realize what it will do. What is the 'critical' table for? These errors which I'll be logging are something that should be taken a look at so shou...

Re: Get Type of SQL Errors?

I'm using PHP 5 to throw specific exceptions depending on what type of error it was. That way the calling try {} block knows what happened. I have a table where ID is the PRIMARY KEY and NAME is indexed as UNIQUE. So, if someone tries to add/insert a new row with the same NAME, it will send a duplic...

Re: Notify Administrator

I've taken a quick look at that function and don't exactly know how to use it. It appears that add_log() calls upon func_get_args() for it's information. However, I'd like to just give it a specific message to add.

Perfect, that will work great for me. Thanks!

Re: Notify Administrator

It will be an error that will effect the user but the administrator should be notified of the error. I would just display a error occurred message for the user. I'll look at those two options. Thanks

Re: Get Type of SQL Errors?

To add to the INSERT duplicate error, I'd also need to know if it was a non-unique field/record. I have ID and NAME which both need to be unique.

Notify Administrator

What is the best way to notify the administrator of a error? Is there a function that will shoot the admin a e-mail or PM? Thanks

Get Type of SQL Errors?

If an SQL query error occurs, is there way to detect what type of error it was? Here are the two basic things I need to detect. 1. A SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE querys: a) It worked, all went well b) Could not find record c) Something else... 2. A INSERT query: a) It worked, all went well b) Duplicate re...

Re: SQL Errors

True, you could do it that way to. However, I'd have to put the reset in the if() block because I throw an error. Then I'd also have to put it after the if() block in case there was no errors. Either way works I'd guess, just preference of the coder.. :) I guess, is it a big deal if the sql_error_sq...
