Re: [Discuss] Introducing phpBB Ideas!

Hello, after several months the highest number of votes is 101 now. Sorry, but IMO phpBBs ideas is not a success story for phpBB. I'm not wondering about it. Just one post. Not any kind of extra advertisement and support for it. For me it looks more like a alibi now. Bye Martin Agreed, until you ca...

Re: Akismet integration

Due to the potential for issues like false positives this would probably be best as a mod -- when something is in core it gives the impression that you can just enable it and not have to worry about it creating problems Have a setting that allows the board administrator to either deny a submission ...

Re: ACP - Modules positions

Oh please - basic HTML and CSS knowledge and you can customize all templates yourself. A "drag your world" interface surely is easier for less familiar adminstrators, but it would impact overall performance as new conditions need to be checked everytime. There are more board administrator...

+1 on this, better as a MOD/bridge with another well known gallery system, otherwise you end up trying to be everything to everybody and lose track of the core project.

Re: [Discuss] Introducing phpBB Ideas!

I think it's a fantastic idea and it's now down to us to promote it and use it accordingly. I also agree that it needs much more promotion than it's getting at the moment. I've always found it strange that there is basically no interaction with the end user via the ACP, why not have a module on the ...

Installing Extensions/Styles through ACP

Big idea that takes a fair amount of implementation... The ability to install styles and/or Extensions through the ACP would be a super addition. MODs are a bit of an issue with the code changes that are required at current but a lot of the groundwork could be completed with allowing styles to be in...

Re: Group membership based on post count

Like this, could be easily contained in its own module in the ACP but can imagine would be very useful for a lot of board administrators. +1.

Re: Update Standard Profile Fields

+1 on the all fields should be made custom profile fields with some shipped as standard but each one editable/removable depending on the board. Ones that have to be included would be: Username Password Email Signatures can already be turned on/off but interestingly the signature module in ucp isn't ...

Akismet integration

Discussed over at area51 (http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic ... 81&t=41581) however I thought it should be placed in here as well to see whether it is something that the community at large would like to see.

Have a look at the functions generate_text_for_storage and generate_text_for_display.

Re: TPM support (Trusted Platform Module)

Can the TPM be accessed by the user's browser? I thought it was at a much lower level than that, more designed to ensure that operating systems are not modified? In the vast majority of cases you'd be sending the details across unencrypted as well, isn't this a security issue? I know very little abo...

I still think this is a reasonable idea so have submitted a tracker request to see what the team think about it. If you like it, that's probably the best place to shout about it :).

Re: Redirect new users to a "Beginners Welcome" topic

Have taken your suggestion and packaged as another MOD, download Announcement Redirect on Login here. Because it is using the same area in the code as the New User Redirect MOD if you have both the edits in the download will not be correct, they are for new installs only. To use both together you wi...
