Re: Shutting Down a phpBB Site

I don't want to delete all the user accounts. Is there a way I can prevent users from logging in? I can lock the forums, but I also don't want them changing their profile, etc. I want the site to become static...

Re: Shutting Down a phpBB Site

I also want to put some kind of large "warning banner" at the top of the forum stating that it has been deactivated (while keeping the content available). For the banner, what about using the Forum Rules area for that? You could also post a Global Announcement with more details. Steve Good idea - t...

Shutting Down a phpBB Site

I administrate a phpBB forum at http://ultimatecomputers.net/forum . It's been going for over 4 years now, and has a large amount of posts and useful information. After much deliberation, (and a recent downward spiral in the quality of content), I've decided that it's time for the experiment to come...

Re: Only Certain Emails are sent by Forum

I'm still curious why this is happening, but for now I've switched to using SMTP, and that's working fine.

Re: Topic Solved

This is a great mod, thanks! But I do have one suggestion. Not every post is necessarily a question - the user should be able to pick whether they are posting a "question" or not. This could just be another check box under "notify me when a reply is posted" That way, when you go to view all the unso...

Custom BBcode in signatures

I have a piece of custom bbcode that lets users embed youtube videos in their posts. However, I don't want them to be able to embed them in their signatures. Is there a way to prevent them from doing this? I don't want to disable all signature bbcode.

Re: Cannot determine image dimensions in signature.

I figured it out on my own. The php.ini file had to go into the includes folder, because that is were the function is. Thanks for the guidance.

Re: Cannot determine image dimensions in signature.

I know that. And as I just said, I do this is in other places on my server. I use a php.ini file to change the default php settings. I'm just not sure where phpbb looks for a local version of this file.

I know the way I am doing this is allowed by my webhost.

Re: Cannot determine image dimensions in signature.

But I've done this before with a php.ini file... That's why I don't understand why it isn't working. Am I putting it in the right directory?

Re: Cannot determine image dimensions in signature.

It's set to off. I tried using a local php.ini file uploaded to the forum root directory with the text: allow_url_fopen = true But that doesn't seem to be changing it for some reason. Should I not be putting it in the root directory of the forum? I've used php.ini local files before like this and th...
