Re: Is there a way to tell guests from users?

With guest posters, you cannot click on their username to view their profile pages.

Re: Custom nfo boxes

Are these different box types (info, warning, note, tip) meant to be used in forum posts, e.g. when someone writes up a tutorial?

If so, you could create a separate custom BBCode for each box type that automatically applies the header, icons and other styling elements using HTML code and CSS.

Re: Google.com Blocking Site for Malware?

Another thing that can lead to such a classification on Google is if the site is serving up ads that contain malware.

Re: Hack attempts?

What you see there is what I would call an attempt to register on your board and bypass any spambot countermeasures, specifically ReCaptcha, you might have enabled. Because of the way the requests are done, your web server is not processing them and instead is writing the error message into the log ...

Re: DOCTYPE causes Javascript issues

The script you are trying to add simply isn't XHTML compliant Javascript. There are several things wrong with it and it would take a bit of work to fix.

A better option, I think, is for you to find a similar script that is already written to be XHTML compliant.

Re: sql cmd mass change all users password and email adresse

Try this:
UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_email = 'bbsadmin@gmydotcom.com';

There was a small typo in steve's version.

Re: Phpbb and cache?

That setting does not disable the template cache. It does not lead to a recompile of the style on every request. What that setting does is force phpBB to check on every request, if the uncompiled template file is newer than the compiled template file in the cache and, if so, to automatically recompi...

Re: Phpbb and cache?

phpBB will update the cache automatically, if you have enabled the "Recompile stale style components" option under ACP > General > Load settings.

I personally prefer to keep this option disabled for production servers and do the cache update manually, though.

Your board is here: http://povertyontrial.org/phpBB/index.php

And it looks to be overrun by spammers.

Edit: Oooops, someone else found it before me.

Re: add custom page issues?

Even when copying the example directly, make sure that there is no line, space or byte order mark at the top of the aboutus.php file. The <?php must be the very first thing in the aboutus.php file. There absolutely MUST be nothing, not even an empty line, space, tab, or byte order mark (BOM) before ...

Re: Pages are too bad

What I am seeing is that requests to /forum/style.php are being redirected to /style.php, which in turn is not found there.

Have you set up redirect ruies or installed mods that require changes to .htaccess?

Re: Removing email addresses from 'banned' and 'excluded' li

Is there a specific reason why you are trying to delete the list of banned emails through the database rather than through the ACP as explained in the documentation? Have you tried unbanning the email addresses through the ACP? If not, I suggest you give that a go before trying to sort out, why dele...
