phpBB User Search Needed for External Site

Apologies if this is in the wrong place - it's a hard request to categorise. It's neither MOD-related nor "standard" support, so hopefully this is the right forum! I could (probably) code the solution to this myself, however I would probably be at it for months, so I'm asking for help from some more...

Re: Custom phpBB Portal

Thanks for the help, I will give that a go later on today. The reason that I'm not using any of the pre-built portal packages is that they generally seem to over-provide on the features, and they're too complex for what we need. The only part I actually need a 'portal' style of setup is the left-han...

Custom phpBB Portal

Re: Excluding Forums from Post Count

Brilliant, ran this SQL query then resync'ed the postcounts. Job done.

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb3_posts SET post_postcount=0 WHERE forum_id =15;
Cheers :)

Re: Excluding Forums from Post Count

 Missed that one. I've moved some topics into the mod-only forum, but that setting only takes effect for "new" posts - does a post-count resync take into account areas that users have access to? For example, I've just moved a topic with 1,000 posts on it to the mod-only forum rather than deleti...

Excluding Forums from Post Count

I know there is a similar feature for vBulletin forums, but I've been searching and can't find one for phpBB.

What I'm after is a way to exclude posts made in a specific forum (namely a moderator-only forum) from members' post counts and also the main forum post count statistics.

Anybody? :)

Re: [BETA] Mathematical CAPTCHA (v0.0.2)

Hi Wolfgang, I honestly think that the mathematical element of this captcha, along with hashing the output really does make it as secure (I'm not going as far as saying infallible - in reality nothing is!) as possible. Together with making the text dynamic between words and digits, it makes it very ...

Re: [BETA] Mathematical CAPTCHA (v0.0.2)

Hello MaidenFan, I don't like graphical captchas either. But I fear your captcha might be a bit weak. Here are some ideas for you: http://i28.tinypic.com/23vny2c.jpg http://www.freetagger.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/1208799443965hz7.png Hope you like them :) Wolfgang Hi Wolfgang, Thanks for the ...

Re: [BETA] Mathematical CAPTCHA (v0.0.2)

Just updated the format of the MOD to MODX and packaged it up in both .zip and .tar.gz files. If people can provide some feedback on this it would be appreciated. I have had one spammer sign up to UKThrash after applying the MOD, however this was probably a human spammer as there is no conceivable w...

[BETA] Mathematical CAPTCHA (v0.0.2)

After being pestered by spam-bots and frustrated at phpBB's lack of a decent CAPTCHA (and image-based CAPTCHAs in general) I have decided to integrate someone else's (fully credited) mathematical CAPTCHA code into a phpBB MOD. MOD Overview MOD Name: Mathematical Captcha MOD Version: 0.0.1 Author: Ma...

Re: [BETA] Auto Image Resize 0.0.3 (Non-JavaScript)

Thanks for the comments - if I'm honest I'd forgotten I'd even created this thread  Yes, you can change 500 to any size you want - the downside of doing everything server-side is that you're effectively downloading every image twice, once to check it's size and once when the page renders, unles...

Re: [BETA] Auto Image Resize 0.0.3 (Non-JavaScript)

The only concern I have is the time it takes to load the threads that contain photos. If it is only 1 or 2 photos is OK, but if you try to open a thread with let's say 10 photos it can take forever. The problem is not only with loading the photos but opening the threads. This has been raised before...

Re: [BETA] Auto Image Resize 0.0.2 (Non-JavaScript)

How can I do so when I click on to see the enlarged image I can scroll up and down in the pop up window? There are no scroll bars in the pop up window? I've used JavaScript to open the new window because the "target" attribute has been removed from the XHTML Strict language (the attribute is still ...

Re: [BETA] Auto Image Resize 0.0.2 (Non-JavaScript)

The mod is working perfectly. Thanks :D Am I suppose to take @ out or just leave there? You had me worried for a minute, I read your post before you edited it. Leave the "@" in place, it suppresses any errors generated by that function call - if the image isn't found or if the URL points to a...

Re: [BETA] Auto Image Resize 0.0.2 (Non-JavaScript)

Right, my apologies, I placed the function outside of one set of curly-braces. To fix the error, just move the whole second-pass function above the last "}" before the end of the file, so the result should look like this: //------------- START IMAGE RESIZE MOD ---------------- /** * Second parse img...
