Well after applying this mod last night and everything seemed fine ... now I get this error when logging back on to my forum today Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) [2002] I cant access the forum and can't log onto phpmyadmin with the actual password?...

Thanks for the quick reply Steve ;) I went to phpmyadmin and looked at user_colour field and it was already set as not null in there! anyway I changed it to null as an experiment and it let me change the username with no error this time ;) but somehow it only shows the change of username in the user...

I installed this on my forum last night and it all went in ok, the only problem was it would not notice the forum members by default and showed the online status for people we do not know from Adam?? anyway I quickly deleted it as it's not what I was looking for and will stick with the ajax chatroom...
