Database problems with installing

I'm on the Database Settings page of the install for 3.0 and when I press Proceed to Next Step, it's giving me this: Could not connect to the database, see error message below. Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/usr/local/mysql-5.0/data/mysql.sock' (2) I put in the correct database...

Can someone help me with my phpbb? I'll pay someone.

I run phpbb on my website, but I'll be the first to admit that I am not that great with computers and coding. The website was started by someone else and passed onto me and almost all of the coding and stuff is done by a friend of mine. When it comes to phpbb, I pretty much just know how to install ...

Hi, I had a couple of questions about this. First off, is there a way to make it so that links from the RSS will go to the thread's url, not the post's url? (http://www.hatesomethingbeautiful.com/chat/rss.php?f=1&t=1 is my rss feed, i made it so that it's only one forum and hopefully only threads) a...

phpBB exploited to access files?

My website keeps on getting "malicious files" uploaded to it somehow to my images folder. After talking to my webhost, I was told that it might be a problem where I have what he called an "exploited forum" in which someone is able to upload files to my website somehow. Has this happened to anyone el...

I'm having the same problem as on the first page where all I have is a blank page show up. What can I do? That guy said "The last update and this update share the same files as ones being edited which caused the confusion. Thanks for the help." I have no idea what that means though. I am fairly new ...

What old tables do I drop?

You don't have to drop anything. Bigdump will drop the tables automatically if you click 'Start from the beginning (DROP the old tables before restarting)'

It worked :D For some reason it just took forever the first time. Thanks a lot!!

8 minutes? How large is the backup? The connection was dropped, so the script stopped running. You can try again by clicking on 'Start from the beginning (DROP the old tables before restarting)'. If it happens again, you may need to contact your host and ask them to restore the backup for you. It's...

if you don;t know this ask your host. you are probably going over the maximum file limit configured in the host's configuration files. youll need to use BigDump in phpMyadmin or something of the sort :) or trying to break the file down into smaller parts I'll try using bigdump. I don't have phpMyad...

Restoring a database?

I recently had to reinstall my forum. I've got it all set except I need to restore the database so I can get all my posts/members back. It doesn't seem to be working though, because when I hit "Start restore" and let it go (it says it'll take a little while), after a few minutes, the page will say "...
