The problem is probably caused by some kind of download manager you may be using. Hence your corrupted zip files.

Yes, every user can choose what language he wants. However, this only translates phpBB forums interface. Do not expect some kind of automatic translation of your users' posts if that is what you meant. ;)

Only minor changes were made between versions. A pack for 2.0.3 should work almost perfectly with 2.0.4 and is completely functional.
With that said it's always better to have the newest pack.

Download the phpBB 2.0.4 full package from here to your computer (if you don't know which one to choose, take the zip one). Unzip it. In the unzipped files you'll find a folder called language, inside there is a folder called lang_english. Upload this folder and its contents to your language folder ...

Correct style is always the most difficult, least obvious part of a translation. For the rest you can always check a dictionary.

Well, there could be a webmaster who doesn't speak Esperanto but who wants to include it into his board because some of his users asked him if it was possible. I don't assume that those in charge of a website can speak all the languages they install in their boards. While a board may be used in a un...

Golly, it's quite a lot of text, innit? At least you don't have to start from scratch. You just have to correct those you don't like. It's easier than having to think the whole structure of a sentence when the English construction doesn't even exist in your language. Anyways, I suppose you'll be ch...

I suggest you send a private message to the official mantainers and try to work together into improving the pack or create a new, more formal swedish branch. As the mantainer of the Catalan pack I know that every translation has flaws, not only gramatically but syntactically as well. However, I appr...

If your users are so picky, you're always free to modify your norwegian language files (even if it doesn't become the official transaltion).
However, cooperating with water seems more sensible to me; maybe he has been improving the initial translation (I keep doing it) but he hasn't submitted it yet.

The problem of i18n forum is that only a few people read it an usually nobody replies. :( Does any of the translators ever read this forum? :?

Suggestion to change a line in all lang_bbcode.php files

I was looking at the BBCode FAQ page and I saw (not for the first time) that in the part that explains how to add images to posts it always appears the typical sign for an unavailable image where the phpBB logo should be. I know that remotely linking to the images in the phpBB server has been banned...

From my point of view, fixes are not the way to go although thay may solve the problem. Most people sould be able to get their forum working fine without touching a single file. It seems cleaner to me if a general solution can be given. I see the problem as one of the language translators, not as a ...

I've tried to copy and paste a couple of the lines from the English file but it wouldn't work.
I'm using notepad and wordpad for more references.

I found out something quite strange. On a WindowsXP with Apache and a clean phpBB 2.0.2 install, no mods, upgraded to 2.0.3. When my profile is set to English I receive mails without the Charset: iso-8859-1 line but when it's set to French or Catalan the mails I receive from the forum have that line...
