Is anything lost when moving to a new host?

Maybe I'm hallucinating, but I thought I remembered there being an issue, a few years ago when I was considering a move, with moving a long-running install of phpBB to a new host. Like: all user passwords were lost in the process, and all existing users would have to go through a password reset proc...

Re: Problems moving phpbb to new host

OK - half-thanks to the people on here who abandoned me halfway through the problem - I was able to figure this out. I unzipped the .sgl.gz archive of my original database and found this line CREATE DATABASE `sufubuckbb3new`; and deleted it. This gave me a new error when I tried to run it because Bi...

Re: Problems moving phpbb to new host

OK - I'm drowning in my own drool over here. I don't know what "the database dump" is - are you talking about the bigdump.php file? The only place CREATE DATABASE occurs in that file is here: // $comment[]='CREATE DATABASE'; // Uncomment this line if your dump contains create database queries in ord...

Re: Problems moving phpbb to new host

Can anyone tell me how I would:
delete the new database and give your database user permissions to create it, or you need to remove the CREATE DATABASE command from the import.
I'm stuck and clueless.

Re: Problems moving phpbb to new host

OK - how do I do those things?

Remember - drooling idiot.

I tried:
Deleting the name of the DB from bigdump.php and I got an error

Then I tried putting the DB name back in to bigdump.php but deleting the DB with that name that I had created using MYSQL Database Wizard. Error.

Step by step?

Re: Problems moving phpbb to new host

Thanks.

So we're talking about the new database? I gave the user I created for the new DB all Privileges - is that what you're talking about?

I'm new to all of this so please treat me like a drooling idiot and walk me through it step by step.

Re: Problems moving phpbb to new host

Thanks. Can you be a little more specific? I created a new database on the new host's server and then put the info for that into the "Database configuration" section of the bigdump.php file. Is that correct? Does it matter that the username that's set up for the old database is different from the on...

Problems moving phpbb to new host

Hi, I'm following the instructions in the KB article and using BigDump: http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/transferring-your-board-to-a-new-host-or-domain/ After I click on the "start import" link on the first page that shows up when I go to the BigDump.php file on my server I get the following error: ...

Re: [BETA] Prime Trash Bin - Keep deleted topics & posts

HI, I'm having an install problem. I'm doing an Automod force-install because Automod couldn't find one of the finds in includes/mcp/mcp_main.php After I click the force-install button (and the "OK" in the Javascript) I get the "MOD installed" page telling me there were errors. In the red box at the...

Re: Automod won't finish installs

Oops - sorry I wasn't thorough in my description. Javascript is enabled and I'm getting the Javascript warning and clicking the "OK" button and then nothing's happening. I reinstalled all of the RC2 files in the adm/style/ directory after reading your reply just to be sure and still have the same pr...

Automod won't finish installs

Hi, Running an unmodded up-to-date phpBB3 board. I've been having a weird problem where Automod tells me "One or more install actions failed." because it can't "Find" one of the needed Finds even though I have no problem doing the find if I search within the problem file manually - BUT - that's not ...

Re: Attachment-size problem

Thanks Steve!
It was actually the post_max_size value in the php.ini - I had that reset and it's now working just fine.

Attachment-size problem

Hi, I'm running an up-to-date, un-modded install of phpBB 3 and have an odd attachment problem. I have max attachment size set to 48 MiB and have no problem with files up to about 8 MB. Trying to upload any file larger than that reloads a new, blank "new topic" page after you click the "add the file...
