Just adding back my two cents of interest in your portal development. I've been nice and quiet for a month now. :) Your portal is excellent. I assume you're not releasing it because too much is hardcoded and you're perhaps not happy with the format of the code? We are not judgemental on form! We lov...

Here it is: http://mods.phpbb.com/viewtopic.php?t=2156&postdays=0&postorder=&start=20 Look for the simple version by certifyd. I just did this mod, and it works on the release 2.0.0 version of phpBB2. I modified groupcp.php, memberlist.php, and search.php. Now, any anonymous user is redirected to a ...

Ok, I've been at this a good part of the day, and still no luck on the Admin panel for Attachments. I can post attachments. Once posted, they show up in messages, and everything appears to work fine from that point of view. The tables are there, they are getting updated. I had a few typos which have...

Where can I get help for problem with contrib/attachments?

I've installed it, it seems to be mostly working, but the Admin panels show only blank pages. The right pane shows this as "view source": <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Frameset//EN"> <HTML><HEAD><TITLE>phpBB Administration</TITLE> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; chars...

My biggest wish for a photo gallery is to prevent hackers from uploading executable files instead of pictures. Secondary to that is whether to store the files as database records or files. Since many people have separate database and Web servers, storing the picture files as actual files is the most...

Not necessarily. The cached template system recently added as an approved MOD (or maybe not approved, I couldn't tell) is simple and automatic. Some users report up to 30% speed improvements on slower hardware. Others hardly see the difference. Based on the requirements of "static" pages, this cachi...

Hey Boby, this way you have twice the odds of a completed portal! And, if you don't like the first one out, just wait for the second. I'm also glad the phpBB team held their ground. While I like the idea of a portal that is actually available, there is a benefit to be gained from a slower, more dist...

I've had my board highjacked on three occasions. Once was through the shell, so nothing phpBB2 could have done to prevent it. The next two times were stupid user error: I left the install.php, the upgrade.php, and the entire develop directory on the server. It was hacked by someone here, almost cert...

Well, I just got burned by my provider when they upgraded to PHP 4.1.1. Now all undeclared variables cause errors, meaning the board was almost unusable. Oh, it worked alright, if you bothered to scroll through about 20 errors per page to see the board below. If you aren't at risk of being forceably...

If your provider allows, set the warning level for PHP lower. If not, then you must edit common.php and set error_reporting lower. Or, if you're like me and your ISP uses PHP 4.1.1, then you'll have to wait for the code to be updated to eliminate checking for undefined variables. I am working part-t...

If you care to mention what your problem IS, maybe we can suggest an alternate solution. I've recently dug into the template ad nauseum, and I'm actually starting to understand it.

Thanks, Matthijs, that really helped! :) I was right about the changes going into compile(), but they show up during the eval(). Once I was able to trap into a file and examine it, the fix was straightforward. Ok, here's what I've been able to do so far: http://nospami.com/files/phpBB2-CVS-fixed-tjw...

Ok, I need some help from a developer here: I am able to resolve most of the undefined variable warnings when running with PHP 4.1.1 and an un-cooperative provider(). However I'm having a difficult time with the template system. Take this example from index_body.tpl: <-- BEGIN switch_user_logge...

Ok, spent about 4 hours today patching warnings that still occur in the latest CVS. I'm guessing this will take at least that long again tomorrow to get back to where I was before, as this time I'm documenting the fixes and taking my time to do it right. Sometime tomorrow night I'll post the work in...
