Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

You need to check that your latex installation is working and that your host allows PHP's exec command, as many don't allow it. If that's OK, then comment out the 6 unlink lines at the end of class.latexrender.php and try again. Then look in the tmp directory. If there's no tex file then the tmp dir...

Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

So... should the path be these: $latexrender_path = "/home/matematicaehumanidades.com.br/public_html/forum/phpbb/latexrender"; $latexrender_path_http = "forum/phpbb/latexrender"; $latexrender_path: Put the user name instead of matematicaehumanidades.com.br. It's probably an 8 (?) letter name you us...

Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

No aux or log file has been created which means that LaTeX hasn't run. This could happen if latex has changed (check by using the command line) or permissions have changed eg PHP's exec is no longer allowed to run - check in php.ini for this.

Re: confused with latex render

Use png but try one or both of
1) reduce the number in var $_formula_density = 120;
2) change the font size to 8 and change var $_latexclass = "article"; to var $_latexclass = "extarticle"; for it to take effect.

Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

That sounds like a problem with imagemagick which converts the ps file to gif. Try converting it directly using a shell command. Rename the ps file to test.ps then see if
/usr/bin/convert -density 120 -trim -transparent "#FFFFFF" test.ps test.gif
converts correctly or if there's an error message.

Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

That's good as it might be the problem. The log file exists so latex is being run. The new version of PHP may see \e as an escape character, so in class.latexrender.php you need to use an extra backslash. In the line $string .= "\end{document}\n"; change it to $string .= "\\end{document}\n"; and try...

Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

Disable file deletion at the end of class.latexrender.php and check which files have been created. Then add some code into class.latexrender.php to tell you what has happened and where things have gone wrong. For example, if latex hasn't been run there will be no log file and when you execute latex ...

Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

Upgrading PHP can often reset php.ini to the default which is to not allow exec to run, and so you won't be able to run latex. Check by running this php program: <?php $cmd="ls"; exec("$cmd 2>&1", $output); foreach($output as $outputline){ echo("$outputline<br>"); } ?> That's for Linux systems - rep...

Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

The choices here are between: 1) Having LaTeX on the server then using LatexRender or mathTeX to render the mathematics. 2) Using an external server to compile the image. This relies on someone else and may not always be suitable and can be subject to delays. There is less flexibility as the tempora...

Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

LatexRender can do that provided you use the right packages for the chemistry. The second example is just simple LaTeX which any system can do. Since LatexRender compiles a tex document to produce an image it can do anything that LaTeX can do. See here and here for a few examples and ArtofProblemSol...

Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

I want to know if there is any way to escape the php debug while someone writes an incorrect formula. Because if somebody does, in my header there are many php debug messages. It shouldn't give any PHP error messages just a message in the forum saying unparseable or potentially dangerous latex form...

Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

What isn't working? What problem? You must say exactly what you see and what error messages you get.

Re: LaTeX support in phpBB3

PS if I edit the post, everything works. If you're happy to do that then the problem is solved. Otherwise, it may be necessary to have a look in the database for the post to see exactly what it says and hence why preg_match_all is not seeing the formula. You may then be able to adapt preg_match_all...
