Re: [Split] Using Advanced Block Mod to Prevent Spam

If anyone is interested in reading how CAPTCHAs are being bypassed by humans and some of the organization behind it, here's a paper from UCSD describing CAPTCHA economics.

Re: [Split] Using Advanced Block Mod to Prevent Spam

No, sorry, I don't want to spend my sparetime for this. I'm nearly 40 years old. I have a family and I have two much more important hobbies, too. I have a hard job. And at the moment I'm spending too much time at the phpbb.com forums. ;) No, sorry, I don't want to spend my sparetime for this implem...

Re: [Split] Using Advanced Block Mod to Prevent Spam

The best way to get some of ABM's features included is to stop expecting development team members to write it and submit a patch. Development team resources are stretched as they are; If even more new features were added, 3.1 may never come out. Additionally, the development cycle has been opened up...

Re: PhpBB slow ?

Not really. phpBB is one of the faster bulletin board systems. Here's some analysis I did of various systems (yes, it's outdated, but I'm working on improving it soon (new design, adding xenforo, doing some more comprehensive tests, etc)) that shows phpBB may not be the fastest in all situations, bu...

Re: Give recommendations for phpbb based on other software

phpBB 3.0 is feature frozen; No more features are going to be added in 3.0.9, 3.0.10, etc. The 3.1 line is currently in development, and rather than a specific topic with single posts, had an entire 3.1 RFC forum to discuss such ideas. Unfortunately, the time for proposing RFCs has long passed, but ...

Re: [BETA] [Bridge] Drupal Bridge 0.0.1

I had a ton of issues with Drupal killing it's session, and setting the base URL correctly was the only method I found to get it to work reliably.

Can you please share your php and webserver config, or a link to your site?

Re: Why are we still moving the mountain to Mohammed ?

Just reading on an XRumer website (not the official one), you can get your domain "blacklisted" so that your board is not spammed with XRumer. AFAIK phpBB.com is blacklisted which is why there isn't much bot spam here. Here's what the site wrote: This blacklist has been compiled from abus...

Re: Facebook is using PunBB?

FB-devs are probably not getting paid that much. :/ I can guarantee this is not the case. Per the topic, at the moment Facebook has absolutely no reason to switch from PunBB; It works for what it's designed to do. I certainly would prefer that they used phpBB, but their devs are busy working on oth...

Re: [BETA] [Bridge] Drupal Bridge 0.0.1

edit: it's working when the base url is set in the drupal settings.php file. but it aint syncing users... Whether the base url is set should be checked when you enable the auth module. Was it not throwing an error message? As for syncing users, it currently associates users, so when you log in to d...
