Re: How Can i use these commands in my Phpbb

Actually, I discovered another guaranteed way to get Google to scan your site... Get yourself an Adsense account, and put some ads on the board. On one board, we put some at the bottom (where members rarely look anyway), and it went to 12th on search rankings for the relevant search words, because G...

Re: Could not locate valid language pack

The test script does not check for the existence of records in any of the tables, other than phpbb_config. So, it is quite possible for everything else to come up green with a blank database.

Re: Could not locate valid language pack

It looks like someone/something emptied the phpbb_config table; the list the test program came up with is pretty much every configuration variable in phpBB! If you have a recent backup, use a text editor to remove JUST the entries with "INSERT INTO phpbb_config" in front of them, save those to a new...

Re: big problems ( max_updates ) common

Find a better host. They're screwy. If you have no MODs installed, the number of queries that phpBB makes per page view is actually quite low, and can't be taken much lower without a whole lot of redesign, which would make for some massive tables. They're just trying to push off responsibility for o...

Re: Using remote MySql database

And be prepared for some massive bandwidth charges, because remotely accessing an SQL database will use a lot of bandwidth.

Re: User permissions

You have probably either incorrectly edited the files, or forgot to run some SQL the MOD requires. In any case, support for MODs is done where you got the MOD from, not here.... this is for phpBB itself. If you got the MOD here, there will be a support topic for it, which you can REPLY to, to obtain...

Re: What happens?(GPL and no copyright tag)

The universe implodes, and then another big bang occurs, wiping out all memory of their existence. Of course, there are some undesirable side effects to this, such as the rest of the universe going, "What the..." just before winking out of existence, but this was judged to be insignificant compared ...

You need a tool to run SQL commands - like phpmyadmin, or (if you don't have phpmyadmin), your host should have provided some sort of "database console" to handle it.

This forum is not here for server setup support. Optimizing servers for their tasks depends upon many, many factors. Optimally, you will have a server for the web portion, optimized for its function, and a separate server for the database, optimized for its function. Database wants lots of RAM and f...

On a fresh install, phpbb 2.0.22 is compatible with MySQL 5, but a lot of MODs out there are not. If the MOD says "MySQL only", it will probably NOT be compatible with MySQL 5. Why would that be? Because MySQL 5 enforces rules that earlier versions did not. These are the same rules that other databa...

11.6MB is rather small in the phpBB world.

Speed factors usually come down to proper configuration of the MySQL database server (more RAM is your friend, as long as MySQL is told to use it!) and keeping the MODs to a minimum.

Which files? The DAJ Glass files, or subSilver?

The subSilver files ship with every version of phpBB, so getting a current copy is as simple as downloading it.

This error means you have problems with common.php being edited, and leaving text at the end, after the "?>" that is supposed to end the file. You can not have any spaces, blank lines, helpful HTML, or anything else after the "?>".
