Sorry to ask this again but I got no reply. I installed this MOD and all the forum files were lost by the ISP. We decided not to reinstall the forum because we had more spammers than actual users, but the admins are still getting the "Notice of Spam-bot Attempt" emails... quite a few of th...

I installed this mod and not long after my webhost had some sort of problem where most of our site was nuked... including our forum. None of the phpbb files, including the database, are there anymore yet we are still getting email notification of spammer attempts. I can't understand why this would b...

I guess that must be the one then. Sorry about that. I installed several mods and since I can't see the files I'm not sure what is there anymore.

Still Getting Email Notification

I installed the "registration disable website signature MOD" and recently the site got inadvertantly nuked by the web host. My forum is gone... but I am still getting email notifications of Spam-bot attempts and there is nothing I can do to make them stop since the files are gone! The data...

Well, I have registration set to user, visual confirmation on, registered users post only. I also have the registration disable website signature mod and confusabot lite and I still have to clean up every few days. I guess I have to keep trying things until something works but I thought I had alread...

Spamming is a Huge Problem

I've installed two phpbb boards for other people and I think it's great. However, the spamming and fake registrations has become a huge problem. I spend much more time deleting bogus posts and users than the real users use the board itself. I'm trying different mods with limited success but basicall...

So Close I Can Taste It

OK... so now the host calls and confirms there was a problem with the database that has now been resolved. I changed file permissions. Then I had another error when trying to register. I used fixtables.php to repair the database and I think... finally... it it up again. Thanks to all for your help! ...

Maximum Connections

I have been talking to tech support. They say the database has 10 connections with no automatic timeout. The maximum has been reached. They tried killing the processes but they came right back again. There have been no other users but me trying to set this up. Could a cookie problem have created thi...

Back to the database

Ok, thanks... I'll check that. In the meantime, my database has timed out due to too many connections. I am the only user... so I'm not sure how that can happen other than something that occurred before I ran the cookie thing. Even then, I wasn't logging in a ton of times. Once this board is up it n...

One Step Closer

The good news is... the cookie MOD seemed to fix the 404 errors. I still can't login or register though. Hangs and then comes up with an incomplete page on the register. http://www.cdtv.ca/producers/forum/index.php Could this have anything to do with file permissions? The server default seems to be ...

Database connection fixed -- back to original problems

Well after much teeth pulling I got the correct database info (not sure how it changed!). Now I'm back to the original issue which is not being able to register. I get the disclaimer page but it hangs on the register page. I also can't login, check private messages, etc. I get 404 errors. Will searc...

phpBB: Critical Error

Hi I need help! Cannot connect to database. I set up a board that seemed to be working fine, but upon some testing found some problems like 404 errors, not being able to register etc. As I was researching the issue I thought it might be a cookie problem and I seemed to be caught in some sort of a lo...
