Spamming!

Hi there

Have been having a few issues with our forum.

For some reason the spammers are getting through and was wondering whether there may be issues with the template "we_universal".

Could someone please shed some light on this?

Currently running 3.0.10 and will be updating shortly.

Cheers

Re: Database

I know. What I'm saying is it's not working at the moment, everything is phpbb2 and the db is not working prior to the conversion.

Will try a google search.

Re: Database

Thanks for the reply. I knew I'd have to convert sooner or later, but thought if I can't get the db working through phpbb2, how would I get it working through phpbb3.

I will install phpbb3 and try my luck.

Re: Database

This is all new to me... obviously. I installed phpbb2 and got the forum working. I then had to upload the db, well someone else did it for me through phpmyadmin, to get it functioning the way it used to. But when I go into the forum, none of the old post show up. I have a feeling the forum isn't po...

HELP!

Over the last year, I've had someone hosting our forum. He has now taken it down and I can't get a backup from him. What I did manage to do was to backup the database within the forum, but this forum was running on phpbb 2.0. My question is, can I upload the new phpbb 3.0 files and then upload the d...

Upgrading

It's been a while since I've done anything to my forum. Could someone point me in the right direction to upgrading from 2.0.22 to the latest.

Do the changes to whatever template is your default.

I would if some of the edits existed in my template. But you can't change something that doesn't exist... if that makes sense.

Most of the time it works, but I do get the odd user that can't have his/her password changed. Is there a way around this, or is it something that happens now and then?

I changed my question because I didn't realise you had to make the edits to the files.

Allright, you may want to take a closer look into "first-line" antispam MODs (meant to stop automated bots from registering in the first place). See if this post is helpful... (the section about first-line antispam MODs), located here: A post in this thread [/url] Let me know if you have any questi...

Re: Changed files

Forum is now updated and my modz are still installed, but I'm still getting bots. Good news on the update! Not so good news for the bots... are they activating the account and posting or just populating the memberlist? Figured it out, was beacuase I'm using a MAC. 8O And what did you need to do to ...
