Bad idea.. IMHO for 3 reasons: 1) It may have just been a bot indexing the site, if you change the filename then the bot will simply use the new filename and you get the same end results. 2) If it was an attack then the attacker can simply modify his parameters. 3) The chances that you can rename th...

I read this whole thing .. took so long when I went to post I had to log in again. :? Anyway my opinions are as follow on the reading of the PM issue: 1) Not illegal but highly unethical. (in most circumstances) 2) If you want your PM's to be secure use PKI (from PGP for example) then it doesn't mat...

If you have no MODs installed Step 1 Download the “Changed Files Only” from the download page at phpBB.com, and unzip it to a directory at your hard drive Step 2 Inside of this zip you'll see several more zip files. Unzip the one that refers to the version you're updating Step 3 Upload all those fi...

The is such a mod you just need to search for it.

You will loose members if you implement this mod, and if you try to hide it and it gets out you will loose most of your members. Just an FYI.

You have guest posting enabled and the posts are being made from automated spam bots. There are several topics (I don't have the links on hand but a search will yield the info you need.) These topics will help you to setup protections against the bots. PS: You are not being hacked .. in fact there h...

Re: And the problems continue...

Quick recap...switched hosting companies. New company failed to properly back up and transfer forum. We are stuck with files and a forum that are over a year old which means lots of lost data. Cant you go to your old host and request a copy of your DB? If you are still in the process of switching s...

If the host is down unless you have SSH access then you have to wait until they come back up.

/edit to add:
You could simply restore your forums from your daily backups, I'm sure you have.

I thought google bots were a good think for indexing your site :? im so con fused here :? Depending on how thorough they are (and your board configuration) they can cause issues of eating excessive bandwidth as is what is happening to this person. You can cut down on what they index by restricting ...

Thats why there's a delete button for PM's

Sometimes people complain just to complain and imposing a system of reading everyone's PM's just to shut up a few that cant master the delete marked button is not always the best solution.

my 2.5 cents

This is not the mod support section and thus you will incur the wrath of a moderator in short order. The issue is INSERT INTO phpbb_auth_access (forum_id, group_id, auth_mod) VALUES (5, , 1) There is no group ID being passed - check over your mod and find out where you did not dot an I, or cross a T.
