Re: [DEV] - Simple but effective anti-spambot (2 lines only)

Excellent idea -- I will try it but will change the english description to different wording (avoiding the word "backwards") just in case they start to scan for this! :D

Re: [BETA] Automatic Database backup

The mod is working :) But the index is constantly loading now. I am just waiting to get complaints from my host. My wish for the next release is recoding of that part. How the script is activated. Can it use the server clock and start without the 1x1 picture? Thank you for this smart mod. ;) Me too...

I'm trying to troubleshoot one server where the backup is not emailed. It seems that on this server the mail() function cannot handle a 3MB file. So I tried to change to smtp instead but I get this error: Warning: email_message_die(includes/smtp.): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in...

I checked my file /forum/language/lang_english/lang_admin.php and it has the section: $lang['FTP_user_pass'] = 'FTP User Password'; $lang['FTP_directory'] = 'FTP Directory'; // Write backups to backups directory $lang['write_backups_true'] = 'Save backups to backups directory'; // // That's all Folk...

Hi Kkroo, I just upgraded one server to 0.70 -- because it was previously at 0.30 I just installed again instead of upgrading. e.g. I checked the MOD edits were ok, overwrite all the new files, then dropped and recreated the database table. But the admin screen looks a little strange http://img86.im...

Suggestion for a new feature: do FTP and/or email but NOT save the file.

The reason is my hosting fills up with backup files if I forget to clean them out sometimes! :D

Seems some of my servers have mail() disabled, not sure how common this is. I would have thought this would have broken phpbb? Or does it have some alternative way?

I researched and saw there are some mail libraries like http://phpmailer.sourceforge.net/ which I could plug in I suppose.

you are getting that error because you have a lower version of mySQL and you selected mysql4. That is why it says it is not a valid MySQL result resource. Don't understand this; there are two servers with this issue and they have "MySQL version 4.1.18-standard", "MySQL version 4.0.25-standard". For...

Something new. Just added it to a site on a different server. This is identical phpbb code (I have a master copy I distribute to all my servers) but a totally different server (different hosting company). Warning: mysql_free_result(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/h...

Thanks for pointing that out raymondl2 , package updated to version 0.1.1 . I just have one question for you, 0 0 * * * is the only configuration that is working for you? 0 0 * * * is the only one I have tried. Just found another tiny issue. Because the filename for the gz file is calculated twice ...

Yes, this is what I get until I made the change I mentioned above. Oh and set the cron to 0 0 * * *

After that it works fine.

Great mod. Exactly what I was looking for.

To make it work I had to change one thing though.

auto_backup.php line 660 change to

$current_table = $row[0];

For some reason the variable $field is always blank for me. This is mysql on a shared server running cpanel.
