Re: Shoutbox for phpBB3

Thanks, folks. We have successfully upgraded to phpBB3 :p Still a few wrinkles to sort out, but the main thing is we have our users and posts >_> In the meantime, it seems to be a toss-up between mChat and Breizh shoutbox. (Mini Chat is mChat, as far as I can tell.) @RMcGirr83 - I don't get the poin...

Shoutbox for phpBB3

Okay, so me and my co-admin are going to hopefully finally upgrade our forum from phpBB2 to phpBB3 tomorrow >_>. The plan is to do a clean upgrade without bothering with any of the mods - apart from a Shoutbox. For whatever reason, our Shoutbox has always been popular. It's also plain and simple, co...

Disappearing user - simply stumped

Tonight, a user just vanished from my forum without a trace - all posts/topics gone. He was able to get back online under a new name, but in the meantime I don't have the foggiest what happened to his original account. It's not in the phpbb_users table, so I presume it really has gone. Nobody has un...

Re: Installation problems

I ain't an expert (to put it mildly), but it looks as though your common.php file is missing or faulty in some way.

Have you checked the root of your phpBB3 directory to see if the common.php file is there?

Re: Synching registrations with video download logins

Yeah, okay. I would really like an answer to this, and I don't know where to look outside of these forums. The tl;dr version of my last post: We have a website which hosts videos, but we want those videos to only be downloadable by those who are registered on the forum. Is this doable with phpBB3 or...

Video downloads with phpBB3

There's a website which currently has been suspended for the final time - the host has been as unfriendly and unhelpful as it could be, but that's another story. The website hosts videos. About 3 months ago there was a large-scale "attack" on one of the videos, with 10,000 IPs all accessing it at on...

Re: [RC1] Registration Auth Code (RAC)

In php if you use quotes in the variable you have to escape said quote, so your question should have been 'Who is Dante\'s twin brother?'; then it would have been fine. PS there are many fine text editors that give lines when editing files, PSPad and PHP Designer as well as notepad+ all do......and...

Re: [RC1] Registration Auth Code (RAC)

Well, what an utter waste of an hour of my life that was. I read through the SPAM sticky on the Support forum. After mulling over the RAC MOD and between one or two other MODs, I decided to go for the RAC one. Read the instructions carefully. Followed them to the letter. Uploaded the 3 altered php f...

Re: [2.0.18] This is Only One Quote

Great MOD; works fine on my 2.0.22 board. For those who, like me, want to stop people from quoting images, but keep the nested quoting, here's the slightly altered code. Thanks to my co-admin who did the alterations :p ############################################################## ## MOD Title: This...

Re: How do I find out why my forum is slower than normal?

Hey, thanks :D

Selecting the "Optimize table" option for all tables didn't show anything amiss - they all appeared to be okay, according to the results :-/

Anyway, I'll install the MOD and see if I can find anything through it - thanks, again :p

Re: How do I find out why my forum is slower than normal?

All right, a more focused question.

How do I find out the number of queries executed and the execution time? I tried optimizing all the tables in phpMyAdmin, and it's not changed anything.

Cheers ;p

How do I find out why my forum is slower than normal?

Before I go rushing to change webhosts, I want to find out if there is anything my side which could be causing the forums to be loading more slowly than normal. No point transporting the problem with me, after all =/ Anyway, I have a 2.0.22 board, with just over 140,000 posts and a few MODs installe...

Restoring deleted topics

Okay, I made a really dumb mistake, and accidentally deleted two topics when clearing out some ****ing braindead spammer's posts. I'm guessing the deleted topics can only be restored from a back-up, right? Could somebody kindly tell me how I would restore individual topics? - I've never needed to re...

I installed the "Small ShoutBox" hack about six months ago. Had no problems with installing it and it's worked perfectly:

Can't vouch for any of the other hacks, though :p

Sorry for bumping the topic up: I, uh, forgot about it - rare for me :-/ Okay, thanks espicom. Occasionally, though, it's somebody I don't want to ban. Every so often, somebody thinks it's a bright idea to change their name by making a new account without realizing the option is there to change thei...
