A quick question if I can? Today on the board I’m an admin on there have been two users register with hotmail accounts, they both made errors entering the captcha code so have listings in the spam log. The bit that seems strange to me is that the user that made several errors has two different IP ad...

There is a mod that does this already and has done for a while. TerraFrost wrote a mod that logs the users IP address on registration for 2.0.14 it still works with 2.0.22 TerraFrost's Log IP Address on registration It will only show the IP address of new users, existing users will default to 0.0.0.0

Hi spotts The db_install.php file does the SQL entries for you if easymod hasn't already done them. But it does look like you are running the db_install.php file from the wrong location, you need to place a copy of it in your root phpBB2 directory(in your case "forum"), run it from there, ...

Thanks EXreaction

Another nice update.

From my experience of this it has done exactly as you described i.e it has stopped all spambots registering and made my life a lot easier as I now don’t have to delete all the spam registrations daily.

Now that I've replaced the file vc_newposts.php with the newer version I have no problems with this. The testing server I'm using this on only has the standard phpBB visual confirmation so I can't say I've extensively tested it.

Another quick question if I can, since the update to 2.0.0a the “Number of spammers stopped by this mod since installation:” no longer seems to be incrementing, have I missed something in the installation.
I know it’s not essential but it would be nice to have it working.

Thanks

Sorry EXreaction I should have been a bit more specific. All the SQL queries run and create/update the necessary tables in the database except this one UPDATE `phpbb_config` SET `config_value` = '2.0.0a' WHERE `phpbb_config` = 'as_acp_version'; which I meant was no big problem to manually update it

Hi EXreaction I’ve just updated to 2.0.0a and had no problems all bar having to update the version number to the database manually (no big problem). I have noticed however in the general settings under the email section that the option to “show email yes / no” is no longer there, is this something t...
