MS Access and DSN-less connections

I already tried searching this board but with no success.. for the first time I have to install phpBB with an MS Access database (I know this is bad, but I cannot do anything else at the moment). I saw that a few people have been able to do that by creating a DSN and passing it as the database name ...

Thanks for the replies.
I'v already had a look at the M2F mod, but it's still in initial development and they've not yet released anything though.

phpBB 2 News gateway

Hello!

It's been a long time since I last posted on the boards.
I was wondering if there's any plan for a phpBB <-> Newsgroups or phpBB <-> e-mails gateway in he future or if anybody already developed such an utility?

I've not had the chance to try to connect with a browser that is in a different language than Italian or English.
It should have reverted to English since German is not yet supported.
I'll look into the language detection routines.
Thanks!

Here it is a demo version of Portal API. It features a sample site with its own admin. Do whatever you want in it. Just try not to break it too hard ;) http://www.onemancrew.org/portalapi/ And the admin: http://www.onemancrew.org/portalapi/admin/ Login as demo/demo in the admin. I'm waiting for comm...

TC: it's coming along pretty well. I've put a lot of time into this project and now it's giving its fruits ;)

My own site now is running with it as the backend.
If there's interest in it, I'm going to make a "demo" site for you all to play around with the admin.

You're right. I've got to put some work into the stuff at sourceforge. If you want to have a look at an example of how to use Portal API, I suggest you to grab the 3 packages in a whole and install them this way: /site-+-/portal | +-/admin And put the example site in your "site" dir and the admin an...

Ok. Thank you. I'll try that.
I have not tried yet, but I guess that I can turn HTML off for users but post HTML messages by forcing that in the DB, am I right?

Problems with HTML messages

Is there any problem with HTML messages and phpBB2 RC 2?

i turned on HTML in the configuration, but when I post a message that contains something like:

Code: Select all

my text<br>othertext
it does not convert to:

my text
othertext

and the <br> is still visible.

Code: Select all

@include($phpbb_root_path . '/home/myuser/config.'.$phpEx);
could be ok. It all depends on the configuration of the machine you're using.. if your files are in htdocs/phpBB2, you can call it through "../../cfgfiles/config.php" for example.

wouldn't it be better to chown the file to nobody and make it accessible in read mode by that user only?

Why should .htaccess be 404?? It should be fine with 400.
