Do you know for sure that "***" works? I've tried on several phpBB-boards, and it never worked for me...

As Marshalrusty said, you simply change the post_author field to the correct user_id I did, and what happened was that the post disappeared from the forum. It's possible I did something wrong, so I tried it a second time with the same result. I'll try doing this again on another post (that isn't an...

That can happen, but it is HIGHLY unlikly. It happened... OK? Can you please be a bit more constructive? I was asking for help to correct a mistake that is already a matter of fact. History. The chances of that happening is very low. I am gone for about 5 min and it says I need to log in again. Eit...

How exactly did one user make a post as another user? IPs are only used to make sure users are who they appear to be. A user posting as another is a serious security problem that should be investigated thoroughly. I thought my post explained that...? To clarify: Two users use the same computer (liv...

Change user of a post hacking the SQL database

I have two users who shares the same computer, and by accident one made a post logged in on the other one's account. I know there is a MOD that can change ownership of a post, but I don't feel it's warranted to install that MOD on account of only one or two of these cases. I'd rather just make the c...

nobody is going to tell you how to undo security fixes. they are made for a good reason. I understand that. What I don't understand, but want to know, is how such a DOS attack would work. Why can't a solitary wildcard be used if the timeframe is restricted? How does a three-letter-and-a-wildcard qu...

Who do I change the order of the buttons? I tried to install Strikethrough on a vanilla forum, but I want it between the U and the Quote button... Never mind... This MOD, and the trouble I had with the Strikeout-button MOD, never did what I needed it to do so I went in and hard-coded my own solluti...

I can vouch for the VIP-mod. It's fantastically simple yet effective.

Though it does not stop spammers who register manually. But those are few and far apart. I dropped from 60 spammers/week to 2 spammers/month.

Can't you use the backup/restore forum function in the Admin Control Panel? On my forum, I lost a user when the host crew fiddled with the SQL server. I dug out the single line with the user from an old forum backup, put it in a text-file, and ran it as a restore-forum file, and it worked like a cha...

What a simple yet elegant sollution!

It isn't clear from the MOD-description what userlevels this mod is available to. What exactly does it take to change the user of a post anyway? I went into the SQL server and tried to change the user in the post table, and in the thread table (it was a thread-opener...) but it just disappeared on me.

Securing Edit and Del buttons...

Once or twice (ok... more than that) did it happen to me: I've managed to klick "Edit" instead of "Quote" when replying to someone's post, then not realising what I did until it was too late. I'd like to duplicate the 'Delete'-button's warning notice for the edit button so there is no risk that I no...

This is an utterly cool MOD. However, I'm concerned and hesitate to install this mod because of the risk of making user-accounts FUBAR. More than once, I've clicked on the wrong button, 'Edit' instead of 'Quote', or 'del' by accident. Is there a warning that pops up when I click on the change poster...
