Not sure about instaling auto mod ?

I am not sure about installing AutoMOD as it looks as though it will over write some of the files . . is this correct or should AutoMOD be installed in its own folder?

phpbb2 to 3?

Can I install phpbb3 and use the data base from phpbb2 'as it is' or is there something else I have to do, my data base also has records from mods as well; shout box spammer protection (the one with the red box - do not fill in . . . or your registration will fail) who has used the board in the last...

Re: Someone is posting (each day) porno links on my site's forum

stop anonymous posts
set account activation to 'Admin'
use one of the anti spambot mods
and is there a mod that stops links?

if you only have a small local forum, you could put a ' * ' in the ban names so no one can set up an account without your cooperation.

So if I mess up the registration page so it won’t work, will I be able to create a new user should an occasional real person wish to join?

Or I could create a few spare users and edit them for new users when necessary?

Stopping new members

Is there a way of stopping any new registrations? The forum is just for local members of a fishing club and the only registrations I get now are from sellers of porn and pills, so I want to close the membership to anyone using the registration page. But leave it open for me to create members should ...

version??

I have installed the newer version 2.0.21 as there were a few problems, I deleted the old installation. Once the new one was working I restored the data base and now get the message; Your installation does not seem to be up to date. Updates are available for your version of phpBB, please visit http:...

Up-grade to v 2.0.21 questions.

I presume that I just over-write the files with the new ones, is that correct?
Is the much chance of messing my forum up when I do so?
I will of course do a data base back up, but is there anything else I should do?
