I'm running phpBB 2.0.22. I think there might be a typo in the installation instructions for this MOD. In the section for editing includes/functions_post.php it says: #-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------ # , enable_sig = $attach_sig" . $edited_sql . " # #-----[ IN-LINE AF...

Just for clarification, does this mod record logs somewhere? How do you know if it's working or not? I installed it but I've had a couple of spams get through, so maybe I did something wrong... I've tweaked the script with dkinzer's changes and it didn't seem to improve anything, so any suggestions ...

I haven't really either(started modding the template once, but I never added MySQL tables). But I am sure I could get it working great if I look at how other mods did it. 8) I can look at getting the adminCP part started this weekend. I am a little busy now(the Vista Beta 2 just went public,...

RevJim, Do you think it would be possible to switch nwtools.com to http://whois.domaintools.com ? I prefer using that IP checker. Unless you can school me why nwtools give better info? Thanks in advance. The reason I went with nwtools.com is because the built-in phpBB administrator panel uses http:...

Hmm, I am really liking your version of this mod(I made basically the same thing except it doesnt email you). Are you planning on uploading this to the mods database? If you are, I would be willing to help make a second version(you could keep the lite version and the version with an adminCP) of thi...

The only common element in all my (tens of) spambot emails is the http://www.nwtools.com/default.asp?prog=express&host= bit. Instead of IP addresses is it possible to ban an IP lookup like this one? Surely it would be a simple line of code?[/code] Hi objectman, That nwtools.com link is NOT somethin...

Because the website and signature sections would be open yet, and then you would get IP banned from the website if you typed in anything in those fields. Not a very good combo there. :P The current code does not automatically ban IP addresses. Let's not start that discussion again, we'll scare the ...

I haven't heard anything from niekas, and after discussing it with smithy_dll (moderator for the MODs in Development forum) we have launched a new thread for updates to this MOD. Please refer to this thread for future updates: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=2166867 I have also updated th...

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Does this MOD automatically ban IP addresses used by the spam bots? A: NO. This MOD simply halts the registration, and the user account is not created. The previous version of this MOD did ban IP addresses automatically, but that code was removed for various reasons. Se...

[BETA] Anti-spam bots registration

Hi all, This MOD has been replaced by a better version with ACP support. You can find that version here . What follows is commentary on the original version, which still works fine (tested up through version 2.0.21). However most users will prefer to use the ACP version because it has more options a...

is it possible for someone to post the code required to make this mod. I am very new to phpbb and would like to implement it but I have read the thread and am not totally sure how to make the mod correctly as there seem to be lots of additions. The most current version is posted on page 22 of this ...

How about we introduce this modified hack in a different thread? Since it has changed a bit. Since you were the one that added the email notification.. I think you should have the honors of presenting the mod in a new thread.. to avoid others getting confused. I know it must be irrating to add a ha...

But googlebot aside, couldn't I manually unban a specific IP address that accidently got banned? Anyway, I'm going to try the latest and greatest piece of code and see if that works. Thanks for pointing out about that code segment appearing more than once. Maybe that's the problem. Googlebot isn't ...

With all due respect to contributors, can the initial post be updated and date-stamped (Niekas? DJ Andre? Forum Mods?) to reflect the product of some 22 pages of discussion? It seems that niekas (the original author/poster) is missing in action, and he's the only one that can update his original po...
