Music star(well, former star), arrested for possessing cocain. He could face 5 to 12 years in jail. Want to know what this means? Means he'll be sentenced to rehab, nothing more. But is it right to send anyone to jail for 5 to 12 years for possession? Is that justice? (If he gets rehab, good, but w...

Boy George could go to prison... oh, boy

I’m a man without conviction Boy George was arrested for possessing cocaine, apparently a good amount. Now, according to various news reports, he faces charges that could land him in the slammer for several years (5 1/2 years on some reports, up to 12 in others). I am not for the legalization of dr...

Windshield Spray Etiquette

So I'm driving in rush hour traffic and the fellow in front of me blasts his windshield spray. I can see that he's got a massive bird drop on his windshield, but the spray flies over his car hitting my car and several others, leaving a fine mist over my windshield. Typically, I give the guy behind m...

Folks, what I'm getting at is that perhaps "annoy" has a legal definition. I've seen it used in cases where an adult molests a child, but is charged with a less serious offense of "annoying." Just a thought.

...annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass...

The law states that it is illegal to "annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass." Sounds to me like someone is missing something in their complaint. Threats are pretty serious business.

I'm surprised. The man sleeps with young boys. This ought to be stopped. That said, the D.A. needed a stronger case--much stronger. I wouldn't have felt comfortable with a guilty verdict... but I don't feel comfortable with a not guilty verdict either. Can't they get this guy for merely sleeping wit...

If I recall correctly, PHP originally stood for Personal Home Page, and was created by a guy who wanted to keep track of people who visited his website. Do I have the facts straight?

That's true, which is all the more reason I want the government to find terrorists. But, if they waste their time harrassing innocent people--grandmas, Arab men, blacks, Italians, etc.--the terrorists will slip by. True, they went a bit too far. However, they're doing their job by trying to prevent...

Can we at least agree Grandma is not a terrorist before arguing about Bush?

Well, if they are planning or training for terrorist activities, that's terrorism.

TSA calls grandma "suspected terrorist" -- what ne

I'll be first to say the government should do all that it can to catch terrorists, but this story from Seattle is just irritating. According to KOMO 100, a grandma and principal was told she's now a "suspected" terrorist for bringing a bread knife to the security gate. I know the government needs to...

Re: Very different values when it comes to free speech?

Actually, I'm not saying anything of the sort (what you know of me remains a mystery). The example given in the report is very specific, and I'm trying to understand how such a thing is hatemongering. Ehm, no. Now you are changing the topic. You made it very clear, that a) you question any kind of ...

Re: Very different values when it comes to free speech?

As I'm learning about Europe's attitude about "hatemongering or perceived hatemongering" I'm a little concerned that all one has to do to silence a point of view is to say that idea is hatemongering. That's obviously not true. That's like saying "all one has to do to silence a point of view [in the...
