They don't since you can't. (And it's futile even if you could.)

Re: Word-censor fails on urls, only alter url-descriptions.

I really don't wanna debate the need for it. And as it is in phpbb3 afaik, well, if it's good enough for phpbb3, it's good enough for me. =)

Re: Word-censor fails on urls, only alter url-descriptions.

Hi. Yes, that would be a solution to a specific word at a specific time, but I was looking for a more permanent solution. I was looking for a more pragmatic solution that alters the words dynamically and makes it 'future proof', including the possibility of other words needed to be censored and/or u...

Word-censor fails on urls, only alter url-descriptions.

Word-censor doesn't censur urls correctly. This unfortuanly posed a problem for us that had, in the past, resided under another domain-extension and that has now been taken by cyber-squatter. We do not want to give them any links or use any of our page-rank - and going through thousends of posts for...

Pagurus>> It's nothing about liking you, it's about giving new solutions to the problem, and doing massive IP-range banning isn't a new solution. People have been able to do that for years. And it's not even a solution for the majority of the large boards.

If it works for you, great - but...

You forget that bots don't simply fill out everything on the page. Bots do exactly what they are programmed to do. If you add something to the registration page that the bot isn't already adding info to, it won't get filled out. Incorrect, an increasing number of bots will scrape the pages to look ...

If you take a second and think before you post you would realize that a lot of forums doesn't only cater to 'white middleclass suburbian kids in west kentucky' and cannot do massive range-banning of IPs.

Haven't tried this mod, but I have (as mentioned in other threads) done pretty much the same thing on some forums as this mod and it's also something I think the devs should look into in having as a defualt in Olympus. Will atleast instantly kill off any spam-registrations with fake emails where the...

You should only get that if you are trying to use a usergroup that doesn't...exist. I.e. the wrong ID is sent along the code, so perhaps you accidently did something along the way?

Does it work with any groups? Create a new test-group with only yourself and another admin to test it out.

Have thought about that too. Have recently extended the website&&signature-removal to include all info-fields on signup, but still some registrations from the typical places come through (you can let them try out your page for you by removing their previous registration...a small tip from me to you....

After adding my 'kill anyone that tries to register with webpage in POST'-modding, we have had only 5 or 6 signups in many weeks (from 5+ per day) across 3 forums. And two of them validated email and posted, i.e. most likely humans anyway.

Ok, the good part is that it was a simple oversight that was forcing the problems...dual from:-fields and lacking reply-to:-field. The bad part is that my hosts email-service suffered a temporare delay of all incomming emails for 3 hours and it took 5 tests, several edits of my 'fix' and sends from ...

No, but it should be a piece of cake to compare the code and alter it to be of same setup. I myself just need to read up on why it fails at all, so I know (the technical definition).
